Would love to, but I’ve become thick as ■■■■ since I passed 40. LOL

Up to 1000 people will apply for each job,10 page application form to fill in with some very odd questions get though that full day doing tests fail one then home you go if you pass you get a medical then interview. If you are lucky enough to pass you then have a years training.
Thats why they get so much money and we get pennies we could do the job but not the training.

I would live to but I’m colour blind.

But teachers take at least 3-4 years to qualify so on your reckoning should be on £120k plus after their training■■?

Be nice but…I can confirm teachers ain’t on anything like that amount of money. And they get abuse hurled at them most days that makes RDC staff seem positively polite…

I know m8 I have friends in the sector one of whom is a headteacher with over 20 years experience and they are not even on £40K!!!

I wouldn’t mind it but I don’t like working weekends…

Incredible pay considering they don’t have to deal with snotty arrogant goods in staff and security, or all the other pit falls of the job related to HGV.

Bloody cushy number that, if you can get through the training regime to the real money

With the new plans put in place to shift 75% of road haulage by rail i’d say we will need quite a few train drivers by 2019 .

What’s so good about teachers? Look at the dross they’re turning out to be the future of the country! You even need a degree now to be ‘just’ a dole worker! Although those that know how to milk it earn good money. PMSL!

I’ve been for the test and interview twice, once with Virgin trains and then with EWS or DB Shencker as their now known.
Failed at the first stage with Virgin as they had 300 applicants for 10 trainee driver jobs at Wolverhampton but the second time went up to Toton for an interview and passed that and then sat exams at Doncaster, passed the first one but failed on the reed bourdon exercise i think it was called because my reaction times were too slow, because i’d gone for driving jobs twice i wasn’t allowed to go for any other similar jobs ever.
Good luck to anyone that goes for it,its a cracking job i should imagine and the money is fantastic once your trained and the way investment has been announced in the railways this week then i can see a lot more drivers having to be trained up.
On a personal note,as for teachers,my sister in law is one and she’s as thick as f…k!

Nothing is ’ so good about teachers’ I was using it to highlight that the training aspect does not always equate to more money, as in any industry there are good and bad workers - just a side note though try getting rid of a bad teacher!!!

Yeah but its hardly kick off your shoes and listen to radio 1 while you pick your nose.

One error and you could end up wiping out a few hundred people… Its a highly responsible job.

Its like comparing a bus driver to a airline pilot. Both sit on their arse and deliver people but the pay is like night and day

To be fair to teachers, its society which spawns these problem children in the first place and all a teacher has as powers is the power of speech.

Maybe if we brought back 2 parent families and the cane society might turn out with a bit of respect and self worth
