Dennis, how far is Beetham from Tamworth?
Dennis is like a cheap suit 5thwheel, all over the place.
Pete.
Nice one Pete,he does seem to have the knack[or neck] to just put any old pictures onto any old thread, its OK at first, but then becomes rather repetitive seeing Bewicks Red all over the place, bless him!!!

It’s just that one of our Deciples operates from Tamworth who appreciates a tidy Sheeting and Roping job,so it does no harm to occaisionally splash the odd shot of how it was done Donkey’s years ago,it helps to keep the now long lost craft alive and to-days standards up, eh! Cheers Dennis.
EDSHARK:
I know that Bassetts Pole is not strictly in Tamworth, but I am trying to recollect the name of the road haulage firm based at the garage there on the old crossroads, next to the Happy Hour cafe. IIRC they ran a good old mix of makes - Leylands, ERFs - or is my memory failing me?

Think that would have been Eric Watts, if it was back in the '60s/'70s. Can’t remember when they finished exactly, but I believe they owned a lot of land around there and I was told they sold some to create the Belfry golf course, so I don’t suppose they would need to carry on in haulage after that. Err! I think I’ve mentioned this before on the “Old Cafe” thread, but can’t be sure!
Bowens Coaches from Fazeley and later Lichfield road ind est Tamworth used this old girl to recover broken down coaches from around the UK and Europe. Unfortunately Bowens Coaches went bust in November yet again another long established Tamworth company is no more.
In the first picture Wm Rowe & Sons Mk 3 militant heavy recovery vehicle pictured at Elford in the late 80’s and in the second picture how it looks today in its current owners colours
