If you can clean a bulker gleaming in an hour that’s been used on Sugar beet all week your better than me.
It usually takes me 45 mins without breaking into a sweat.
It can be done in less than 30 mins though.
Guarantee if you done it 30 mins you would be getting a cleaning bill for leaving the truck dirty.
You really have been working for a right [zb] be thankful for the experience and you got out before you got in to trouble. Get another job and stand up for yourself.

Mate I never come on here or posted to have a domestic with guys.
I just wanted to know what other guys opions where on the situation I found myself in.
I’m not interested in unfair dissmissals and tribunals.
All I want to do is earn a living so me and my family are comfortable.
That was only job that was going to put £500 in my bank every week as I have no commercial driving experience.
But as times gone on Iv relised it ain’t worth it.
On xmas eve I had enough and wasn’t sure if I was in the wrong or if other guys would have happily gone and done the job.
Well thats all fair enough I suppose. It can be hard for guys with experience to remember how hard it is to get a start with no experience and if you dont know anyone to give you a chance you sometimes do need to just bend over and take what you can get. The first job I got was as a cash in hand two man job. On the way back up we got stopped by VOSA south of Carlisle and it was revealed he didnt even possess a class 1 license! That’s the kind of cowboys newbies are sometimes subjected too.
But to answer your original question,IF everything you say is true then I too would have refused. Three hours sitting in yard for a jet wash, only to then get sent out again at 1600? No chance. I would have been diplomatic and came up with an excuse and been polite about it,but I would not have went on a 2-3 hr job and then spent another hour washing the unit.
Iv never worked in haulage before and have just got on with the job and not winged or moaned. I hate wingers and moaners or the I’m not doing that brigade. But I’m learning that’s the way you have got to be on civy street and you have the option to say ■■■■ off.
I did offer to go and do the job if I could leave the truck dirty till I was back in.
If you can clean a bulker gleaming in an hour that’s been used on Sugar beet all week your better than me.
Woah, easy cowboy. I never questioned how long it takes you to clean a unit till sparkling. I answered your question without judging, being patronising or anything. I didnt say you were whinging or complaining either. In fact,I agreed with you about not doing the job you were asked to do

At last you understand.
Getting a start isn’t always easy, and you get 2 types of employer when you start, those that can’t get experienced drivers because they have a reputation in the industry of being [zb]'s and a few, very few decent guys who like to give people a chance.
But you now have experience and after this thread you’ll know there is a difference between a driver that moans about anything and everything and one that know when somebody is trying to shaft them.

No probs mate. Like you,I had to take the only job I was offered by a company when I was a new pass. Was long hours for low pay. 6am till 1900/2000 for the pricey sum of £7.02. It was a shafting but I appreciate the chance they gave me. Sounds like you got a cowboy outfit and your well out of it. You’ll find now that you have experience you will get a better job no problem

Finally
Move on Drive, best out of there. Very, very difficult for newbies who don’t already have contacts in the industry to get a start. The decent firms will expect you to stay legal.
First outfit I got a start with was a steaming pile of carp (I’m amazed they still have drivers prepared to put up with it). Coming up to 5yrs later I’ve gained experience, learned the lessons and now pick and choose my work through agency. The good thing is that things are finally turning the drivers’ way so we can be a bit more fussy.
Its YOUR licence so look after it cos no other ■■■■■■ gives a toss.

I guarantee I wouldn’t.
Are you a fatty or something?
Complete lard arse at a guess
Aye 22 stone and eat 1/2 pound burgers out ant sues snack bar twice a day.
The weight just keeps pilling on.
Am I [zb] a fatty or lard arse cheeky [zb].
Why does it take you so long then fat lad?
Cos he was chewing on the burgers
I don’t know it’s usually got 6 inch mud underneath the whole truck.
Time you wash unit tanks all shinny.
Wash all the bulker inside and out lift up wash all underneath.
Plus it’s always pitch dark.
It takes good bit time to get it clean.
Iv seen lads in the yard on there so called deep cleans spending good 3 hours cleaning there truck.
For all those guys putting the boot in…can any of you honestly say…that at least once in your driving career, you haven’t uttered those famous words…“I wish I’d known then what I know now !!”
If anyone says “Yes”,
Can you leave me your wings and halo in your will please ?
