Anyone any news on the Tarmac/lafarge merger?
There was a half page piece on Breedon again in The Times yesterday as having half a billion to spend on Tarmac/Lafarge assets.
Come on Breedon!!! Come buy us!!
We’ve got a ex breedon driver in our area. He said they ain’t great and crap rates.
I thought Breedons were company drivers. Anyway, if they take us over, all conditions and rates will stay the same.

They do have owner drivers.
We need them to buy the lot or buy big areas. If they pick off odd plants all over the place the will be massive competition and not enough work.
Tarmac/lafarge want it done and dusted by October.

Breedon have just had a new 8 legger Scania mixer delivered in Telford havn`t they? I saw one on M54 when I was working out of Telford/Shrewbury a few weeks back

Nobody below board level will have a clue as to whats being discussed. Our Regional Operations Director is guessing as much as we are.
They cannot leak any info as it could affect share trading/insider dealing etc.
They will be around a table somewhere and not be allowed to divulge any information outside of that room until its ready to be released.

Could be TATA. They have got some concern with a Tarmac quarry in South Wales that provides their massive steel works at Port Talbot with its concrete and stone.
Also Tarmac distribute all their blast furnace slag aggregate. There are about 15 Tarmac tippers based there.
It is possible it could fall through if buyers dont come up to scratch but i doubt it. Tarmac and lafarge have gone too far with this now for it to fail.

That must be the one i saw newly painted. Thought it was new. There are no O/Ds with mixers with both Tarmac and Cemex down here but that Scanie has got a Cardiff number plate, CN. Havnt got a name have you?

all i know mate his name is gary and hes from south wales and have only met him twice,says hes got 7 mixers down your way with tarmac , cemex,.apparentley hes on a 3 month trial with us to see how things pan out,thats why the truck is white and not in breedon colours,suppose if hes not happy then all hes got to do his take stickers off

I know who youre talking about.His name is Gary H****e. I dont know about 7 mixers but he has last week started 1x 4m minimix with Tarmac at Tredegar Plant near Merthyr on heads of the valleys. That Scania came from Hanson concrete in Cardiff. He also has a couple of tippers with Hanson. Maybe 1 or 2 mixers with Cemex.

yes im a company driver for breedon and yes they will sort your finance,fuel,insurance for you.they also pay has you say by road miles and they have got the reserve set up the same has the bigger companys.
