Just copied this from a statement made
It is envisaged that the Hope plant and supporting operations including the Dowlow quarry and a substantial network of RMX plants will go to a single buyer.

What does that mean in the scheme of things?
I’m lost on it all now.
Basically, Lafarge have sold Hope cement works and Tarmac/Lafarge have sold enough concrete plants between them to keep Hope fully operational, thus creating a 4th UK cement producer. Its what the Competition Commission demanded for the merger to go ahead.

Right.
Do you think all these plants have been bought by one concrete company or is it possible that both the Swiss group and breedon have bought some?

So it’s possible not a on the list has gone to one single buyer as it states ‘substantial’
Anyone with any updates on the Tarmac/lafarge “merger”?
Still just rumours, we were told which concrete plants were going yesterday ( Lafarge)

Hi Mate. Is your plant going with us? We had a list of 69 Lafarge plants joining us on Monday
Hi
Yep, our plant was on the list, as we’re most around here.
Some of our busiest ones too!!
Hi again. Are you O/D? All Lafarge drivers in south wales are company drivers. Since Lafarge took over a private company about 4 years ago they left them as they were. They have only left 3 plants out of about 8 to stay with Tarmac. How is it going to work, OD’s mixed with company drivers?
They have mostly minimixers and no trucks newer than '05’s.
Tarmac are selling new trucks fast and buying their O/D trucks to keep them for new venture to replace the old ones.
Let’s hope for all our sakes we are sold as one company and not sold in smaller clusters. That would not be good
Perhaps we should start a new thread " Any Tarmac & Lafarge O/D`s " to get as much info as possible from drivers around the country.
Yes. I’m an O/D well all are in this area, except for one company truck at Egham.
Don’t think it’s allowed to be carved up, has to be sold as one company from what I’ve heard.
My days could be numbered as I have a 10 yr old truck

Are you working on the M25 with the Haslem trucks? I hear`d Lafarge have a 10 year contract on M25. Is that right?
Im thinking we will be much better off if we stay as one company with national coverage. In the past Tarmac South East were using hire trucks when we were dead but still wouldn
t have us up there( Colchester/Cambridge).
We couldn`t even get on the Olympic site
My days could be numbered as I have a 10 yr old truck[
Aren`t you interested in getting a newer truck to stay in the game?
No not on M25, never been anywhere near it, and have never been asked, Haslam seem to have the contract for that.
We have 2 Haslam trucks in Lafarge livery in the plant about 15 miles from us, I think they were on M25 before it got put on hold for the Olympics, hopefully whoever buys us will not be as cosy with haslam as Lafarge seem to be.
Would I buy a new truck? Hmmmmm tricky one that, would love a new Scania, but they are very expensive, and is the money in the job anymore?
Am more hopeful with a new outfit taking over
My mate has just had a price for a Scania 8 wheeler @ £113,000 otr.
Tarmac are pushing Renault (all Volvo with a Renault cab), Volvo and DAF
The Renault/Volvo is nearly £40,000 cheaper for the same rates
Yep, was roughly what I was quoted for the Scanie, I heard Lafarge had ordered 9 new dafs, not sure they found 9 buyers though

We been told that all trucks over 6yrs old will be told to buy new or leave.
I’ve got a feeling not all plants will go to one company. From what we hear, one company will buy most of the plants but the others will go to another company.
Breedon own a few in Scotland so can’t see them buying them.
But we are entering a whole new ball game here, so will keep going with my old girl and see who comes in.
My opinion for what it’s worth is Breedon isn’t big enough, so seems someone like AI, but Breedon may want to cherry pick some plants that AI don’t want

Breedon have said they have £1billion ready to splash on Tarmac/lafarge. I’ll see if cab find the link.
That sort of money will be enough to buy all nearly.
