Any concrete mixer drivers ( owner drivers) on here?

massey1200:
Hi, Have both 6 and an 8

mixer driver too:
Massey 1200,
Do you have an 8m or 6m?
Id be interested if you wish to compare rates with different areas. If your 6, Ill get rates from a mate to compare.

I heard somewhere a while back Scotland and the South East, especially London had higher rates than us.
Ill PM you my 8m rates after the new 5% rate rise from 1st May and when I get the new 6m rates Ill PM them too

mixer driver too:
Good news! I got the letter as well. 5% rise again from the 1st May with the 8% we had in Jan.

Better than a kick in the bo**ocks

At this rate everyone will be wanting to buy a mixer

8% in jan my arse! They put the fuel esculator up so we didn’t get 8%, infact we got nowhere near 8% and that was confirmed by our truck sales manager.

Mixer Driver, Is your plant on the list? Mine is along with all Tarmac plants (4)in South Wales except 1, and 5 / 6 Lafarge plants. All but 2.
I have the list here

We have hear`d this afternoon that the “new company” will have 170 concrete plants and will be by far the biggest Readymix distributor in the UK.
Tarmac and Lafarge selling/sold 168 plants between them to the new buyer.
This buyer is rumoured to be Swiss company http://www.holcim.com/en/about-us.html. They already own Aggregate Industries and Bardon Concrete and London Concrete.
We will all remain in the same plants as owner drivers.
Plant staff all staying under TUPE regulations

Yes mate, every plant in the area is on it apart from Liverpool city centre plant and also Manchester city plants.

You got your wish, No more Tarmac!
By the way its 168 plants not 109 as I stated earlier.

They can’t be any worse than Tarmac!!

I just don’t get what Lafarge are getting out of this. They will have no plants hardly in our area.

How do you feel about it?

It seems as though Lafarge are nearly out of Concrete all together. They have sold all bar one in Wales as well.

I just can’t get my head around what Lafarge are trying to do. They will have one plant in Liverpool then nothing up to Manchester but have 5 plants in Manchester.

I like the look of this breedon.
