Hear`d today Tarmac/Lafarge will be allowed by the CC to build the business back up after all the sales have gone through.
Twelve new concrete plants a year for the next 3 years
Well If that’s true, it makes the whole thing a total joke!
Thats exactly what i thought when I was told today. As long as they sell off what they have now to satisfy CC, theres nothing stopping them rebuilding And, apparantley after 3 years, do what they want as far as expanding. more competition the merrier the CC will be!!!
The ain’t enough work to go around as it is, when the newco set up and transcode/lafage rebuild, we are all stuffed.
Any news on a buyer yet?

The only news is that it is ONE buyer for the whole Hope cement and RMX package.
Plant staff were told in a conference call meeting yesterday. August is now the time of buyer name announcement.
We had a visit today from an independent auditor looking at solely local issues with the plant such as environment and local resident/council/complaint issues that have been going on for a few years.

they did mate, only last year wasnt it if i recall, anglo who own tarmac are concentrating on mining and want out of building materials which is why this jv is happening in the first place.it will only be a jv for a few years in my opinion until lafarge can afford to buy tarmacs share, they are getting there dedt down at the moment .
We’ve been told our verifi is being took off, so something must be happening!

That’s good news for you. Must be a pain

this truck arrived at our plant in march ,first owner driver
this mixer turned over last week on one of the many roundabouts around telford, blocking the road at rush hour and spilling concrete all on road.driver ok but has since been laid off,not sure if they will replace truck or not cos bloke who owns it from south wales its the third breedon truck to turn over in last 6 months and big health and safety investigation taking place at moment, more hassle, meetings and paperwork ahead me thinks.
Same happened in Wolverhampton for Tarmac last year. It was on the ring road causing chaos for hours
This was yesterday upon the wind farm pour. Nearly over
Only the banking keeping him up

Wolverhampton chaos as cement mixer topples | Express & Star
Truckmixers started to turn over regularly in this country with the introduction of Euro mixers-they were obviously designed for using the right hand side of the road ,when imported here the weight transfer via the barrel turning was into the nearside kerb and with disasterous results paricularly on roundabouts the obvious answer was to change the drive to the opposite way for UK use. toshboy
Years ago Stetter,Mulder,Ritemixer&Jager(US, built under licence by Stotherd&Pitt of Bath I belive, another great British engineering firm whose cranes can be seen in every dock in the UK but gone now!)all built mixers for countries that drove on the proper side of the road .Therefore drum rotation should’nt be an issue!
Any more rumours/gossip/news on the Tarmac/Lafarge merger ?
Seems the drivers are the last to find out about owt

The rumour that the trucks based at the plants will go with the plants is not true, Tarmac/lafarge will pick which trucks they want.

So the jvco will cherry pick the “best” drivers for retention to the merged company ?
Could cause a few problems with guys having to pay to move operating centres.
Aparantly there’s a meeting this week in Warwick (I think) where transport/driver issues are being discussed. So should know more on Monday.
