Change of subject guys, there have been a number of thefts & attemped thefts of mixers in London, Kent & Essex, beware could coming to a plant near you soon!! we nearly lost two Hinos this week(they must be desperate!)
No announcemt today. It’s a shambles!
Why the **** can’t they just tell us?
What did I say yesterday. The package as I see it is too far heavy with concrete plants and not a great deal of aggregates to serve them. This will lead to complications as I previously stated. Within 30 miles of Chester for example, the new company will have plants at Abergele, Chester ( Sandycroft), Chester ( Saltney), Bromborough, Widnes, St Helens, Wigan, Northwich, Crewe with none of its own quarries to supply it. These days big concrete companies generally consume their own aggregates.
I can see the whole thing in its current format slowly fizzling out.
It is interesting also to note that within 30 miles of Chester, no quarries owned by Tarmac ( Hendre, Borras and Garston wharf) and Lafarge ( Graig) are up for sale to enable any prospective purchaser to buy some of their own aggregates for use in concrete.
I wonder where this will go next, if could be the next soap opera rumbling on through the summer and autumn.

Hadn’t heard about that one drewster, but I do know they have a lot of money to invest in acquiring more quarries etc.It wouldn’t surprise me if your rumour proved right.
Cheers Dave.

I heard a little whisper that the buyer wanted Borras.
No news/rumours in South Wales. A few were expecting something yesterday that never materialised

There are 2 concrete plants for sale in Tarmac quarries in my area that will still supply agg for them. South Cornelly(Bridgend) and Kington.
Bit of a farce really as Tarmac reckon concrete plants dont make much profit, if any as a unit. The profit comes from internal sales on the aggregate/dust/sand

I imagine they are but I’ll be very very shocked if anyone is as bad as tarmac, they think they are above the law.
Tarmac employees was today put into bands of A, B,C.
Band A = you will be going with the new company.
Band B = you will be staying with Tarmac.
Band C = you are on 6 month probation and may have to apply for you job.

Well If that’s true, it makes the whole thing a total joke!

Thats exactly what i thought when I was told today. As long as they sell off what they have now to satisfy CC, theres nothing stopping them rebuilding And, apparantley after 3 years, do what they want as far as expanding. more competition the merrier the CC will be!!!
