Yes sorry, we do get slag off Hanson and cement off tarmac.

Maybe the Irish won’t to make sure they have back up plan in place of hope cement works goes down?

Maybe they envisage us being that busy they can’t supply it all from Hope

This was dated more recently and looks like they are interested.

I’m told a guy called Clive James who’s ex tilcon MD is heading the charge for Tarmac/lafarge cast offs.

Nope, not from what I know. I don’t think anyone up this trusts Tarmac one little bit meaning they haven’t took the offer up.

Everyone round here just thought they was cheeky ■■■**rs asking us to buy trucks when we don’t even know who we working for.

Youre right there. i did want to change mine for the new 4% interest rate and £2k off from Tarmac but the same 61 reg truck i have now is £8k more. Im gonna wait and see who it is before i decide although the cab chassis has been ordered. I would still be £100 a month better off on HP

What sort of deal did they offer you, if you don’t mind me asking?

I was also going to get new truck this year but I’ve not even asked for any details as its all up in the air.

Its funny how different areas see things and react differently. Tarmac must have sold at least 25 trucks recently in South wales although mostly Tippers and mostly Volvo. There are 5 new mixers on order, 3 in one plant!

They have dropped the interest rate to 4% from 5.5% and give you £2k off truck price and no Admin fee on new contracts.

I think it dates back to 2008 when the credit crunch started to bite and drivers was struggling and Tarmac did nothing to help but cut rates and bully drivers into buying newer trucks or they finished.

At this time, the great Terry Last was writing in his blog how he’s bought a holiday home in the lakes, bought his 18 year old daughter a brand new BMW while and telling us just how good his holiday in the Caribbean is every week, yet drivers going bust!

People don’t forget these things.

It’s not a great offer to be honest seeing they stuck with all these trucks they have ordered.

We should leave them with all these trucks. It’s their problem.

We had tarmac management around who told us that all plants on the list had to be sold as working concrete plant and would have to stay that way.

The buyer cant buy the plants just to shut them, they are sold as a going concern.
