Take the cable linkage off and see if the drum turns any faster by moving the small linkage lever on the pump.
It is recommended your drum shouldn`t really do more than 15-17 revolutions per minute.
Why do you want the drum to turn faster anyway?

The concrete comes out quicker if drum goes faster
the drum goes same speed on charge as discharge, but majority of deliveries are to farms ect where slumps don,t really come into play, 99% want more or less self levelling… there as been a few spillages of late cos of trying to take it fairly wet and the hills, its a newish drum and not sure we got the set up correct…
more concerend with keeping it in rather then getting it out quicker

Drive to site in a lower gear and keep the revs up.
weve had it at max revs in a low gear but still come close to loosing some, its 440hp so engine power is there, will try the linkage off the pump, it was ok before drum change so i think it is down to the set up…

Are you sure you’ve got your drum spinning fast enough to keep the concrete in?
took cable linkage lever off the pump and moved it a couple of splines round, put back together and sorted, so ta for the advice,
see wat happens when it goes up sutton bank with 100+ slump on…

Only 100 slump? Don’t you carry wet stuff round your way?

It was announced Friday that it has been cleared by the Competition Commission for Tarmac/Lafarge to sell all the plants to the “Proposed Purchaser” still not named so we have been sold. Will be signed off very soon. By the end of June
Tarmac and Lafarge have been given permission to complete the merger.
It says
“agreement for the sale of The Cement and RMX Operations to [Proposed Purchaser] under an Approved Agreement has been entered into and all conditions to completion other than completion of the Approved JV have been satisfied.”
Also
The CC now issues Notice to Anglo American and Lafarge that they may complete the sale of The Cement and RMX Operations to [Proposed Purchaser] and issues Notice of approval to complete the Approved JV, provided that in accordance with paragraph 3.3.1 of the Undertakings completion of the sale of The Cement and RMX Operations occurs prior to the completion of the Approved JV without any amendment to the Approved Agreements (save as separately approved in advanced by the CC).

Does that give you the impression it’s been sold to a single bidder?
Whos your money on?
It definately is one buyer.
Who this " Proposed Purchaser" that has been given clearence to buy is, I aint got a clue. Could be anybody we have previously mentioned. We won
t have to wait much longer though!

So you happy with this?
No, Not at all. I am content as we are.
Ok, some parts of the job get on my nerves and some people are a pain but “better the devil you know”
At least if it does get quiet in our area there are people in Tarmac who will find you work wherever.
All that might change
Tarmac and Lafarge have many loyal customers that won`t go elsewhere. If we are “Joe Bloggs concrete”, it will take a lot of convincing to persuade customers that we are still the old Tarmac, same plant, same concrete, same trucks.
Its the name that counts

The name will be gone, they will be going under another name which isn’t Tarmac or lafage so it won’t count for anything in the name.
The days of loyal customers are well gone, money talks and providing they can beat Tarmac then I don’t see it as a problem.
Have Tarmac/lafarge got enough plants to service any big jobs? Not in our area, that’s for sure.

I’d put my money on CRH
It could be CRH.
Plants in South Wales were set up recently for accepting cement to come into Swansea docks from Ireland.
BUT, part of the deal is Hope cement works, the biggest in the country, so why import it from Ireland with all the capacity of Hope

Don’t they sell cement to other firms? We buy off Hanson.
Could it be they may supply certain areas from over the water and others from hope?
I know many Irish lads and they tell me CRH are massive!!!
