Looks as though i owe a couple of people an apolagy,
no one,
Archie, so sorry i didnt recognize you at asda the other week,
i was about to come up to goods in when they asked me to hook up and away asap,
i did realize who you were, but by the time i did iwas in southhamton,
i must say you looked well to me, i hope you and yours are all well, regards, mac.
apology no two,
Roger,
not sure what to say to you,
i will say that what i did was totally stupid and extremely naive,
i am not going to start making excuses, because there isnt any,
i am also not asking for you to forgive me, as i wouldnt deserve you to anyway,
i have paid for what i done in many ways for my stupidity and i deserved it all.
Ialso dont find the comment from toddster very funny(even if he does)
and seeing he is one of my all time best friends i willsay sorry for him if it peed you off, even
though he will tell me off for it, i should imagine most of you would know who he is, and its not billy reader.
anyway Roger, sorry about it all and sorry to hear about your friend.
regards, mciver.
Hullo Mac,
No need to appologise mate, it’s got to be at the very least fifteen years ago since we last met, and people do change. However it was good to see you, maybe I shall see you another time in there. Mind you that new depot is a real ball - ache, at least at the old place you went in under the canopy and they tipped you, that day you saw me I was waiting in the new wharehouse three hours even before they started on tipping. Mind you at £12 an hour they can keep me there all night. Anyway as I said , good to see your still at it, I’ll keep an eye out for you.
Cheers, Archie.
Archie, its been more like 20 years since we last met,
the new depot has alot of teething probs at the moment, but it will get sorted, mind you its normal for outside trucks to have along wait, if you ever have to reverse onto a proper loading bay, then pump up your trailer or you will rip of your mudguards on rear of trailer, regards, mac.
Hi Mciver
I hold no grudge against you at all, and the fact you have appologised on here bodes well, You have done your porridge, glad you are well and still working, me im retired but do miss the open road.
take care
Roger
Hullo Rita,
Good to see you back, you’ve had your little rant, and all the air is clear again. Good. Now let’s see you more often, you’ve been missed.
Cheers, Archie.
Archie
I didn’t rant I just grunted and groaned a little, comes to us all with age.You rant when someone buys you a zimmer and says your going in a home see you there soon
Roger
Roger,
very generouse of you sir, i thankyou for that post.
reference being back on the road, all last year i was doing greece via hungary, rumo and bulgi, and as much as i prefered it to going on the ferry, its still a wind up seeing all our work being done by eastern euro trucks, you can get all the way to athens before you see a british truck, alot of changes have occurred some good, but i still liked it they way it used to be, and i am afraid most of you would probaly agree, so its probaly better that you have retired, the rates are rubbish and the crack is no longer, anyway you take care. regards, mac.

Chazzer, im sure that guy Bobby crane in the last pic, I used to work with him in Bosnia.
The bob I knew, and I cant rememeber his surname, said he used to do a lot of greek work, in fact I think he said he lived out there at one stage. a really nice bloke, big built and big hearted. would he have been an O/D??
Cheers, bullitt.
PS, great pics by the way, great to see this thread back up again, i really wish I had got onto the Greek run, especially in the 80s, seems like a good crack was had by all!!!...........apart from Anglo-Greek and Mondial, does anyone remember the name of a firm from the Enfield area in North London, maybe near where Redburns old yard was, who used to do Greece AND CYPRUS, well thats what it said on the side of the trailors, blue box trailors pulled by DAFs, 2800 or 3300
s and 95`s■■?
hi bullit, yes bobby crane was an o/d until greek customs found a couple of diggers wrapped in a protective coating of video machines.
chazzer
The picture of the layby is on the one way circuit about 100 approx clicks from greece in yugo know it well left a few gallons of Anglo greek paint on the tarmac when a pallet collapsed in the trailer nice pic shame about what happened in yugo.
Rita
nice one roger, glad to know the grey matter’s still working well

Yes, thats Big Bob alright, the more I look at that pic the more im sure!! Have asked a mate of mine to take a look at this thread as well.
Would love to know more about the camoflagued diggers though!!!
What ever happened to Bob, is he still around??
Bullitt.
Hello Archie, I had quite forgotten about the photos and found them whilst packing up, have also found a load of french drivers strike ones so will post them probably on trucking in the eighties topic tomorrow.
Bullit I’m not sure what Bob’s doing now but last I heard of him from his cousin a few years ago he was driving a london bus and I’m not sure that I can disclose the truth about the diggers as the time frame for secrets probably has’nt elapsed yet.
