Let’s see how this most likely occurred…Cliff spots Joan and tells her to [zb] off, no free travel today. Closes the doors then checks his offside mirror to check it’s clear to pull away. Unknown to him she has tried to force her way onto the bus and got snarled up in the doors. His only mistake was not doing that final nearside mirror check before pulling away but tbh that’s easily done when you’re focused on the offside mirror pulling into a live lane of traffic.
Speaking as a former bus driver, what this report fails to mention is that this freeloader probably does this everyday day, free travel without a pass.
“early stages of Alzheimer’s” so wtf is she doing travelling on the buses on her own? The drivers are not mental health workers.
With the number of routes and driver turnover at most companies it’s probably quite rare for her to see the same driver at any regular frequency.
Unless you have had the misfortune of being a bus driver and witnessing the sheer ignorance of the majority of the general public you really cannot imagine how stupid some people can be.
Don’t get me wrong, Cliff sounds like one of those bus drivers that hates dealing with the public, which is quite ironic considering his chosen job, but bus drivers have to deal with just as much [zb] and us lorry drivers and we all know how quickly “blame the driver” comes into action.
27 months for not checking his nearside mirror when pulling away from a bus stop…
I’ve just come back to this thread and re read what you posted-I’m even more angry now-hopefully you or anyone in your immediate family won’t suffer from dementia, but if they do, I hope they don’t run into someone with the same [zb] attitude as you.
I actually thought you were on a wind up, but I just think you are thick as [zb].
Previously a bus driver? You must have been great at that.what a turd you are.My father has dementia and there is no way in hell I or anyone in my family would allow him to travel unaccompanied on a bus which is why I am questioning WTF the family was doing?
Not once did I state I agreed with the actions of the driver, just playing devil’s advocate and trying to figure out how this most likely happened. There are always two sides to every story but by all means just blindly follow sensationalised “click-bait” articles if you so wish. I personally don’t believe a thing I read in the media and question everything.
I had the misfortune of being in the bus industry for around 20 years, unlike Cliff I really didn’t give a [zb] who travelled on my bus. I would have let her on for free and probably got the ramp out for her if she had mobility issues. The company I worked for was too tight to employ ticket inspectors and I didn’t get paid enough to “enforce” the rules.
Yes it’s an afwul situation, another bus driver who hates his job / dealing with the public (you’d be suprised how comon it is) The big opperators dont give a [zb] who they employ as long as the drivers seat is filled.
What her family were doing has sod all to do with it-she was in the early stages of dementia, she was still maintaining a little bit of independence until this ■■■■■■ ruined what was left of her life-my father was able to jump on the bus and go to town and back but sometimes forgot his bus pass-should he have been confined to his house unless he had a chaperone?
“Bus drivers aren’t mental health workers “-no they are not, but also they are not allowed to drag ■■■■■■■ passengers up the road because they shut the doors on them.
You also called her a freeloader!!
Wtf? She certainly was not a freeloader ffs.
