Amputation.

An elderly woman attempted to board the bus for free and the driver shut the doors.

If she’s a pensioner then bus travel would be free.

Apparently didn’t have her free bus pass with her previously , any one with any common sense would of let her on ,it’s no excuse but makes you wonder what the instructions were from the company for not having free bus pass with you

No bus pass?
Well she didn’t have a leg to stand on…did she. :unamused:

Sorry couldn’t resist please excuse my sick soh.

Bring on the inevitable bleeding hearts …‘‘you wouldn’t say that if it was your…’’.
Mam
Grandma.
Auntie.
Etc etc.

Driver was a bit of a twunt though. I’d have thought one of the most basic basic duties of a bus driver would be to check there aren’t any old biddies jammed in the doors before you drive off.

I see a lot of drivers smiling when they see someone running for the bus and they drive off.

Of course! Sticking to the timetable is more important than providing a service

I appreciate drivers probably have certain pressures applied by their gaffers, but if things are so bad they can’t turn a blind eye to someone who clearly is entitled to a bus pass, simply not having it with them, then maybe the gaffers should be in court too?

I agree, checking for safety of passengers and pedestrians should be the driver’s number one priority, all other priorities rescinded, including keeping the gaffers happy.

No need, you just need to remember that when God strikes you down with furious vengeance and anger, Sploom will be watching you, and doing his Cartmanesque ner ner ner ne ner-ner

What a sorry excuse for a human being, I hope his gonads swell up, fester & never burst. :imp:

Speaking as a former line bus driver, there is no excuse for driving away with a passenger stuck to the door.
But as for pensioners “who are obviously entitled to the free ticket”, not having the card to hand that entitles them to said ticket…
There was a very large notice, next to the driver, stating that “ALL discount cards MUST be show Every Time a ticket is purchased. No card, no discount”.

Multiple times a day:

A pensioner return to town pleas.
Sure, do you have your pass?
Yes, I have a pass.
Yes, but can you show it to me?
Well, it’s in my bag…
Well, can you get it out of your bag?
The other driver never asks for that…
I’m not Dee. Do you have your card?
Well, I’m not happy about this, I’m 80 years…
(At this point the pensioner starts rummaging through the bag, whilst other passengers get fractious…)
(Eventually). Oh, I must have left it at home.
Than you’ll have to buy a full ticket.
But I have a card…
Yes, but you don’t have it here (I point again at the sign).

This works equally well with students, who like to pass their discount card to friends without a card (can I just check your card… that’s not you, is it? Yes, I am confiscating the card).
Or women using a pensioners discount card, “because I’m doing my mother’s shopping”…

Being a bus driver is a crap job. It’s much worse, if you don’t like people.

Seeing as you’ve never worked for a bus company, I’ll forgive your ignorance.

It’s not wether some looks old enough to get a discount, it’s wether they have the relevant discount card. If you (the driver) let’s a pensioner on, with a free, or discount ticket, and an inspector checks, and the pensioner does have the card to show, the driver is on a disciplinary.

He has to live with that stupid stupid mistake for the rest of his life, I don’t know what’s worse him thinking he was a little hilter or not checking the doors and mirrors.
Common sense was all that was needed, hes the type that would leave a kid stranded in the middle of nowhere for not having the fare
He should have got 5 years at least

 I imagine there’s a modicum of satisfaction to be had from that.

However, dare I suggest the working public would view an 88 year old great grandmother as a very different entity to a student? Sure oldies can be a PITA, like in a shop queue when they wait until the assistant wants payment before even thinking about looking for their ■■■■■, or in the olden days when they would pull out a cheque book to pay for single tin of Whiskas :unamused: but on the whole Granny is far more likely to elicit a bit of sympathy than some spotty young entitled wazzack who thinks the world owes him a living

As a former (record) shop worker, I can relate. Any job working with the general public is to be avoided.

That’s a bit harsh, we all know Rob didn’t REALLY mean it

As the great frankie boyle say’s, it’s comedy not real life…

Frankie Carson: That’s a cracker, it’s the way I tell em.

And that is why I’d last 5 minutes as a bus driver.
I’d be letting all the old people on for free, probably a few war heroes among them, maybe presumably worked all their lives, so they deserve a free ride to the shops and back.
I have a lot of time for old people…

As for inspectors and/or disiplinaries :unamused: …,.■■■■ em…
So I’ reckon I’d be back to trucks within a week.

When my poor dad was suffering from dementia and could no longer drive , he’d get the bus to town every day-he lost his poxy bus pass every other day!
The bus driver’s obviously knew him and let him on without it ,and would drop him right outside his house(luckily on the bus route).
They gave him a little bit more of a life for a little bit longer-fair play to them, it really did make a difference to my wonderful father that ended up with this ■■■■ disease.
Contrast that with the ■■■■ bag that shut the doors on this poor woman-I hope he ■■■■■■■ suffers in prison.
