200 drops a day…then what after lunch?
bald bloke:
…Yes watch out for their vans they’re all mad drivers to say the least.
Dingbro/Dingbat and Euro Car Parts drivers must be on a similar contract. Had a few close calls with those lunatics, usually on the 75 for some reason.

And why is the Amazon milage both paid and deducted??My guess is if you did the route in your own van you’d keep the mileage payment but because he rented the van Amazon get it.
This whole setup is a disgrace and the whole self employed scenario should be abolished ASAP. Be your own boss, pfffft, what a [zb] joke. It’s a scam to deny workers decent pay and conditions. Surprised it’s gone on this long to be honest. UBER have been done for it, case pending of course. But they really seem to be going after this sort of thing now and long may it continue.
I just hope they don’t take too long to get round to HGV drivers. Most driver’s have proved themselves too stupid to avoid the £1 more for LTD scam and this inevitably keeps the rates down for everyone so I say to HMRC, do your worst.
This has been happening for years with most parcel firms its nothing new at all don’t be thinking it is. Just look at the likes if TNT fedex yodel to name a couple all operate a similar scheme. 125 per week for insurance I pay 140 for my hire and reward all I. With git and PL. Just goes to show how much these guys are ripping the drivers off
That said hire and reward isn’t cheep in know people that are regularly quoted 3-6 k

going a bit over the top now,in the paper yesterday it was reported that amazon drivers are pooing in bags and urinating in bottles because they don’t have time to go to the toilets, absolute load of bxxxxxxt,if that was true [and I can’t believe it is for one minute]are they really that scared of amazon and losing their jobs,if it was me and it reached that stage I would park the van up and tell them to shove the job
Probably is true enough. If youre doing mostly domestic delivery where are you going to find toilets? ■■■■■■■ in botltes and ■■■■■■■■ in a bag in the back of the van is most likely a regular occurance. Always make sure you wash your hands after signing for things on their scroller.
If it is actually going on Amazon should at least provide drivers with a caravan type porta potty for the back of the van, theres nothing like bursting for a mud out with no facilities…
There’s plenty of places to stop on those kind of jobs
I don’t think the job can be that bad.
I have dealings with Amazon at a hub of theirs & there are plenty of Brits driving the vans and driving home out of the gate at 4-6pm. I don’t doubt it’s hard graft & it’ll be a job not everybody will be good at. They aren’t making collections on top like couriers, just emptying the van & I reckon 200 parcels in a confined area with multiple parcels at some addresses, is achievable for the right person. Don’t forget, Amazon have click & collect places where the driver will be dropping a good handful of parcels at a time.
As for the lack of days off, i’m hearing reports of people doing it but not getting the impression they are being forced. Lets face it, if HGV’s weren’t regulated there would be grabbers in every yard working 7 days.

The problem isn’t the work its how its paid. Let’s look at it they are being chargers thought the nose for van hire and insurance.
I could lease for 199 pm and to insure it would cost me 150 pm so £87.50 per week for can hire and insurance so £349 month as opposed to £800pm
They would pay the fuel for the runs even at 100 per day its still rubbish pay and that’s even with halving the costs once you take out se tax phone feeding your self your still looking at 50-60 quid a day take home
Socketset:
I think it’s for three days but the vehicle and add-ons is charged weekly - it’s only a guess.
So that’s £93 for three days? Self employed?? That had better be part-time. But if somehow doubt that. .
Own Account Driver:
Where do you stop though. If I can’t get a backload and so it works out less than minimum wage is the customer, or the taxpayer, going to make up my earnings?
You’re an actual owner driver by the sounds of it though. I’m talking about the phoney self employed drivers who are blatant employees but are pretending to be self employed so they can scam the system. Except a lot of them are being scammed themselves by working for £1 per hour on top of PAYE. The only way to then make it pay is to fiddle the expenses.
It needs to stop.
Alot of agency’s seem to be charging alot for a van and insurance £175 per week.
