200 drops!

200 drops!
No read it again 200 parcels , that could be more than 1 at any address I often take in stuff for the little nurse up the road sometimes 5 or more parcels at a time.
Not surprised though and this is next to our place watch a 66 reg van com in looking like it’s just gone through Beruit bb will tell you
The thing I don’t understand is…
Why do all these drivers sign up in the first place? Uber, Deliveroo and now Amazon drivers all kicking off about low rates and 25 hour shifts etc.
They must have been aware when they signed up what the money was.
It’s a bit like moving to Heathrow and then complaining about noisy aeroplanes.

Little nurse up the road !! Must be a right ball ache having to keep taking all her parcels round to her, any from Ann Summers ?
Yes watch out for their vans they’re all mad drivers to say the least .
As been already stated 200 parcels could be multi parcels to one drop,
When I did parcels years ago at w/e had a minimum amount to take out so I did a little shopping center which had shops like Woolworths who invariably had anything from 10-100 parcels, about 10 drops at tops and I was done before 12 noon.
Round my way it’s all immigrants who work for them along with uber etc.
Those hard working immigrants we are told about who do the jobs lazy bits don’t want to do.
Those jobs that take advantage of the nieve until they wise up to be replaced by another immigrant.
The reason why the power that be want free movement as the reason we need immigrants is the jobs we need covering are so rubbishy paid.

Christ I was told they were seagulls
Huge Amazon hub just up the road from me and 200 drops didn’t shock me at all.I remember last Christmas holidays I got a delivery at 8:30pm on Sunday evening now that shocked me.
There’s a programme on about it at 19.30 on BBC 1 but only for viewers in the West Country.
According to my telly its on in yorkshire
The government need to tighten up legislation on what defines ‘self employed’, as while those that may want the freedom and flexibility, the majority that don’t are getting screwed! If you work somewhere for 6 months on a bollox ‘zero hours contract’, you the employee should have the option of taking a full time gig. Simple!
Make Tachograph compulsory in all commercial vehicles
The prog was on nationally on Beeb.
How tough would it be to put a tacho of some sort in white vans, then? Would they have to be reclassified?

As it said at the bottom of the article in the OP - it was shown on BBC1 in all English regions (and is now available on BBC iPlayer).
The only drivers that get shafted are drivers that are willing to put up with it.
Grow a backbone and you will do alright. If you don’t, you deserve all the dung.
one reporter said today she knows of one driver on amazon who has not had one day off in 3 months, can’t believe that but if so more fool him/her

You’re all heart pal!
Don’t you think that if a company can afford to run people (who are basically fun time) through an agency, the government needs to act?
The trunking sector of my firm are all ‘zero hour’ contracts via agency, and the majority have been on it for 5-9 years…
The firm has decided that it’s just as economic to run it via agency, as in-house!
In an ideal world Beez, you have a point in my view regarding Government intervention.
Back in the real world, to quote Forrest Gumps Mum " stupid is as stupid does ".
Enjoy the dung folks.

So I need 13 loops on this rope right?
I hear what you’re saying that the government wants us weak and divided, and won’t lift a finger to assist the common man just looking for a fair wage and treatment.
But how is that going to come about?
It won’t be from a united front of drivers who insist on a certain level of treatment, as that means different things to different people. So there is no bar to say what’s acceptable or not, and therefore a standard of treatment to be expected. It’s very much an EMPLOYER biased set-up at present, with like it or lump it for the EMPLOYEE, or rather CONTRACTOR!
Basically this country needs a labour shortage for firms to actually have a single thought of the treatment and retention of their employee’s!

How would you know what a white van was used for?
I own a van which I used when the misses uses the car… Should I have to put my card in, to pop to the local shops in my personal van?
And how would it work for hire vans, they are commercial right, out for personal used. Next you’ll be saying they need a ■■■■■■■O licence too for them all
Worked more than 11 hours a day - delivery drivers are breaking the law if they exceed this limit
WHAT? did they drop the 15 hour a day rule?
