Your Digicard expired and for some reason the new ones don’t start for 24hrs after the old one expires so you have to do a manual record!!

Well done SNICKER !
Monday evening i start my shift, as i know my card is about to expire, i have to do a print-out of the vehicle unit before i start. i then insert my card and carry on as normal.
seconds after midnight, my digital card expired, and it just spat it out as snicker stated.
i placed it in my wallet for safe keeping, as it still had data yet to be downloaded.
at the end of my shift, i do another print-out of the VU. and endorse it with my name, driver number and signature. and then i go home.
that same day i come into work, and again do the print-out on the VU before commencing work.
(i must admit, i did try and insert my new card to see if it would work, even though i knew my new cards start date was 24hrs after the old one expires) but all it said was, card not recognised.
the dash still shows “driving without valid card,” so i did put my wallet in front of it, as your eyes always seem to read warning messages, even though you know you have already read them a hundred times!
just before midnight, i pull into the services, and wait till 1 minute past midnight, then insert my new card,
i feel better, because it works, and i wont be doing that for another 5 years.!
Some people were calling you some rude names. I wonder how they feel now!

It happend to me last Oct.
I was working on agency for a well known parcel co. and as I arrived at the hub at 23:00 a bod from the transport office jumped in my cab to do a download of the VU. - Why are you dring without a card? says he.
It ended up with me being called to the office and all the so called experts did not believe me even when I showed then both cards and print out. They where going to ban me from driving and find my own way back to Kent from Birmingham. Luck would have it they took so long talking about it, midnite came and went and my new card was valid for the drive home.
I did get an appology the next night after the TM had phoned Swansea to check.
Why didn’t the new card work after it spat out your old one? If the old one expired at 2359 on monday then the new one would be valid from 0000 tuesday

Mine ran out at 24:00 on the 11th Oct and the new one Started at 00:00 on the 13th. A 24 hour gap.
It says this in the letter that comes with the new card but it does not say why!
yes, for some reason the new card doesn’t start until 24hrs after the old one has expired.
eventually, all drivers will encounter this situation, so i thought it might be some useful information to post.
