Am i in trouble?

TruckOff:
yes, for some reason the new card doesn’t start until 24hrs after the old one has expired.

eventually, all drivers will encounter this situation, so i thought it might be some useful information to post.

Hi Truckoff,
Look on Roadtransport.com theres a article about
faulty digicards.

Cheers Malc.

I thought you had to collect your digi cards in person and hand in the old one at the time of getting the new one! Guess thats only if its change of address and not for replacement card after 5 years use?

i haven’t broken any laws, how is this possible?

You’re a police officer  and it’s one law for you and one for the rest of us :arrow_right: even with your pay cut

Guessed right, the card is useless when it has expired, a damaged card is useless. a lost card is more than useless.

If you move address they expect you to swap the cards at a VOSA station or local VLO. Although this is not as time critical as informing the DVLA about an address change with a V5 or Driving Licence.

A solution to this would be to have a couple of days holiday at the change over time or not work nights.

Is the driver PC Angus Cairn, coming on TN to catch us out,and have a laugh in the nick canteen.

I drive a volvo fh and it will not eject a card while moving and wont eject till the vehicle comes to a complete stop

Nice one, but you still drove for 12.5 hrs, how will you get around that ?
Annother question…i thought you had to send your old digi back to get a new one…so are you saying that you can apply for a new one, or do they send a form for the replacement …like a driving licence… your answers would be most valued fellow truckers…informative as always…

I work nights, i started Monday evening, but one second after midnight my card ejects, its now Tuesday, (that’s why the card don’t work ) so I am driving at 00.01 on Tuesday.

i finish my shift, go home, and 9hrs later i come in to start my next shift, (still Tuesday) i drive 4 hrs have a break, drive 4 hrs, its now midnight, etc.

you cant send your card back as you will still be using it. they send you a reminder and the relevant form before it expires. (very simple to fill in form) the fee is £19.00
return the form but keep your digital card, as you need it until it expires. and even then you need to retain
it as it contains data.

hope this helps.
