Bad news for all drivers and staff at McDonalds distribution depots.
All McDonalds restaurants across the UK and Ireland will close by 19:00 GMT on Monday 23 March.
The fast food giant said the decision was “not taken lightly” and was made “with the well-being and safety of our employees in mind, as well as in the best interests of our customers”.

£50 they can’t get supplies at the old prices or any at all as everything’s being bought up by/reserved for supermarkets (at inflated prices, of course).

Or trade has dropped to much with its restaurants being closed

Doubt that very much it’s all part of the bigger picture to get everyone to stay at home the drive through at Rawtenstall was very busy today with the outside seating area packed so with the better weather coming you can see why they have done it.
All this will be irrelevant by next weekend as i imagine we will be in a complete lock down by then to keep people at home.

'Cause that worked so well in Italy/Spain, right…
The only place it’s ever worked is China because they have billions of cameras on every corner with face recognition software + database of all their citizens and visitors + staffed 24/7 data centres to monitor everything/everyone + complete control over social media/traditional media and majority of the internet, largest (?) army in the world, vast majority of the population is compliant and HOMOGENOUS, they had 1 hot zone - Wuhan so they knew where to isolate fast and hard before the infection had spread too widely. Once it reached Europe it was everywhere simultaneously because people from Wuhan/China travelled to multiple places in EU (not necessarily Chinese) so all lockdowns have been so far futile. People will still have to go to the (crowded) stores, crowded food factories/warehouses/supermarkets/pharmacies etc. so the virus will continue to happily multiply as it is currently doing in Spain/Italy/Germany/France etc. We’re talking several months (7-8?) of this - no chance for any economy to survive. People are already getting restless and desperate in Italy, once the number of deaths is accepted as just a statistic widely enough, it’ll be over. Either this or food riots

It is working, numbers of new cases have dropped today in Italy and Spain, Itlay has seen fewer deaths than yesterday too, this week is really important for figures to see if it drops because it is 11-15 days of measures of containment and it is looking good already today, so you may be spared if we all pull together and actually heed the advice.
Personally I hope they announce a lockdown from tomorrow, it is what is needed as the British public are seriously ignorant, selfish, greedy and lacking consideration of others.

If you knew my history you would not believe what I said, as I still cannot and my wife is in shock, but knowing what I know and how this virus has performed so far in other countries, it is a no brainer to start with.
This is nothing like flu apart from one aspect…There is no cure or vaccination for flu as it is of the same family of virus, yet the flu is a very mild in comparison and does not drown you in fluid unless you go on to contract pneumonia.
This virus is fantastic in what it does to humans, in that it was probably hosted in other animals that have a greater core temperature, so our body raising its temperature to kill it will kill us if we have a weak immune system and that is just crazy and lethal......And does not kill it, we are relying on immunity and our antibodies. The virus has killed a teenager today and many who are in their 30s in Italy and Spain, it is not just going to kill the crumblies.
But alas, the horse has bolted and the stable door is about as much use a chocolate fireguard now, no matter how much they try and secure it…We as a species do deserve what we are getting, make no mistake…Nature has to take back control from the pathogen that goes by the name of homo sapiens, which is quite ironic as it is latin for “wise man”
I imagine the rest will soon follow suit, Greggs, Subway, BK and KFC will be closing, the sales rep cannot get any free wifi at McD to send in his orders and dads wont see their kids at weekends

Indeed, social media shaming is the latest snowflake thing, so many will die because of the PC snowflake brigade.
If I was a tramper, I would stop now, as it is not possible to get supplies in supermarkets and takeaways are closing, so if you cannot get food, then you cannot do the job, so the supplies will not get to the end user, seems like a perfect storm to me.
Ikea hmv Primark are all.shut. And over the week cam see more following suit.
And Emirates have suspended all.routes worldwide apart from to the UK for some strange reason
Only problem is is trampers when we’re having night out how are we going to eat survive get a hot meal/cooked breakfast.
Mcdonalds has shut
Greggs subway will.do doubt follow
Cafes are shut
Some truckstop heard do takeout only.
Snack vans etc are probably Gona start disappearing due to lack of trade beacse of places shutting.
Way it’s going were Gona be unable to get a hot meal unless it’s cab cooked stuff if you can even get that. Only milk I could get tonight was soya milk from m &s.at some services on m40 stoped at 3 services on way down for milk all sold out even at motorway services on a sunday

‘‘How are we going to SURVIVE’’ ?
A bit dramatic mate I reckon.
Fill your fridge up with pre home cooked food and microwave it, or warm it up on a gas stove.
Or take healthier options like pasta mixes, salads cold meats and sauces etc.
And take a pint of milk per day with you at beginning of week.
As for a cooked breakfast, it ain’t really essential is it really?
If you think it is take a frying pan with you.
I know that I’ll ‘survive’ anyway, full time cab cooking ain’t my first choice, but I’ve done it before and you have to adapt to circumstances.
As for snack Van’s disappearing?..at least some good comes out of this.
Ashamed to say but am a part time tramper.
As in when necessary or.job requires.
Some weeks home eveyrnight some weeks out all week.
So can’t plan as I never know from.one day to the next.
Only luxury I have is a cool box.
Don’t have a microwave .
Yes have a cooker. And.some supplies. Kept.in truck like porridge pots variety packs of cereal.
Tins soup sausages beans. Some pasta I won’t excatly starve
More as places shut down shops are empty gone be hard get a decent meal.

All you can do is keep trying to replenish your coolbox a bit more regular, or maybe upgrade it to a bigger one, or even a decent size fridge.
What about one of those 24v ovens?,… cheaper than a microwave and inverter method.
Only thing I’ll miss Maccy Ds for is coffee and toilet facilities in a morning, they are one of the many considerations I use for where to park up,.so I’ll need a re.think on one or two of my regular parking places.

Didn’t know the supermarkets had banned lorry drivers, stopped at the Aldi in Cross Hands on my way to Pembroke Dock yesterday and stocked up for the week no different from any other week, sometimes it involves a walk to get to the nearest supermarket perhaps that is the problem for some.

I agree should stop nights out an hetalth and safety reasons.
as if like me at times don’t park up to about 8pm most truck stops food times has stopped.
Mcds etc are shut chippy will do doubt be shutting. Supermarkets can be hit and miss late evenings. Can’t eat properly get a hot meal.
But if honest give it to end this week can see lot places shutting up as places will be shutting down and be no work for us to.do anyway

Hmmm no offence , but I think it’s a bit snowflakish, and pathetic to call for tramping and nights out to be stopped.
Look…I’m the first to gob off about injustice, lack of facilities, poor treatment towards drivers,.and how h&s does not really apply to us, but ban tramping because ■■■■ Subway is shut?
Seriously?..
This is an unprecedented unique scenario, you still need to look after numero uno, but the answer is adapt react and apply, not complain because we are not being spoon fed and nursemaided.
We’re big butch macho truckers ffs!
On top of full bore closures I’m using a lull in my day to get some birthday presents for the boy so I’m sat in a service yard in Tamworth waiting for Currys to open, they now do door service only, and Im yet to see what happens in Smyths but as have a trailer I may aswell use it to grab a basketball hoop and tablet computer
I really do feel for my lad. Weve never seen this so he certainly hasn’t but hes lost his football, his swimming and his birthday party and school as he knows it to date, all in very short time. It’s a lot to take in for someone so young so if I can spoil him a bit then I’m going to especially as hes been ace through it all so far.
