That sounds like my mate at aldi darlington. made me wait 24 hours as punishment for being 1 hour late.
load had to be rebooked. to save money on wages to pay a gateman a manager comes down to book you in. charming chap he is too.
Dont get me started on the manager of goods inwards at middleton.Hatefull wind up merchant he is.
I started my boycott o long time ago.
I love Aldis there is an insane place like in mental hospital.
some idiot at Middleton warehouse and the Stupid “Security?” Guys - they are telling You " U cant stop here overnight (100m radius of the RDC) because we need some view. There is No Yellow lines so last time I just told him to zb off or call the police if am I doing something wrong. he didn’t called anywhere.
Now this STUPID idea about neston. How the hell they can tell You where can YOU stop or not. ITS UP TO YOU. FIRST IF IT IN NOT A PROPERTY OF ALDI THEN THEY CAN zb on a tree.
dont mention the second war pls.
The war real winner were russia - if the hitler were stayed just in Europe we all now would speak german. Unfortunatelly he were attacked russia and he lost there lots of his power. USA were most important creditor for germans before 2nd war. Uk were Happy to sell steel for germans untill france were collapsed. In fact large part of East Europe were “sold” by You to stalin in Jalta. No body judge the winners but Dresno and Hiroshima were newer watched by tribunal.
ALL RDC rigt now got some sort of its own ideas about delivering, parking etc. No One of them is watching for your tacho or working time and sometimaes they are waiting from You restacking pallets and other things. some day indeed we will be putting the pallets straight on asda, lidl , or aldi’s trailers.
According to your signature ,English may not be your first language jan_m, but you got your point over clearly enough. 10 out of 10 for effort.
Now could we ffs “stop mentioning ze var”, I was bombed out of 2 homes in 1940. I don,t have a problem with Germans. It,s not the people of a country who are baaaad. it,s the politicians wot causes the problems. Always did. Always will.
Oh, and the N.I.M.B.Ys of Neston.
I,ve just read Inselaffe,s post. I used to park on the nearest Aldi , Lidl, etc, wherever I delivered in Germany. Even though my load was for a Builders merchant somewhere hearby. Never a problem… Also, why do Aldi over here not have in-store bakeries like they do over there. I can still smell that freshly baked bread, when I woke up in der morgen, after a peaceful night,s kip.
In a former life, I used to deliver to RDCs across Germany and Holland: ALDI, Lidl, Edeka, Plus, et al…
These sites invariably have a large holding area for arriving trucks which can be accessed 24 hours, allowing drivers to arrive on site and then get their head down until opening time/booking time.
This total lack of on site parking facilities appears to be a particular UK problem.
I would very much doubt whether an RDC would get planning permission in Europe, if adequate parking space was not provided for the projected number of arriving vehicles.
That is because in the UK we are seen as the lowest of the low and not deserving of anything other than sheer contempt.
Look on the bright side everyone, you never get these problems at Tesco!!
(tongue firmly in cheek and tin hat on)

No change there then!
As I see it, if Aldi don’t own it, Aldi can’t make the rules.
How come Asda at Magna park have security moving you on?? Do they own the estate? I know what I’d be telling anyone trying to move me on, especially if I was parked LEGALLY.
Magna Park is owned by Gazeley Properties which is (funnily enough) a subsidary of Asda
As for the no parking thing it is private land and they do have signs up saying you cannot park there but there is the (no doubt apocryphal) about the driver who parked their for a daily rest and refused to move at which the police were summonsed and they told the security guard to not disturb the driver for nine hours.
Until I get a response from ALDI. Maybe after discovering this!

I wonder whether the badly spelled, poorly composed email was actually just from a NIMBY who was, sickened, shocked, appalled, repulsed and incandescent with rage and other vitriol.

Thanks for clearing that up.

A lad was saying at Superdrug at Dunstable yesterday that they have got to start employing forklift drivers to tip you from the end of the year due to the cheapo German supermarkets losing a court case over “elf and safety”.
Anybody know anything about it??
By the way Tofer, what does “Apochryfol” mean■■?
Why doesn’t any of this surprise me
I left the game a few years since and right up there, right up at the top of the list of reasons, is RDCs and their staff and management
Turn up when we say so but jump through various hoops, hand your keys in, do this, do that, sit in the drivers ‘rest room’ for 2 million years, they’d have us all out in the middle of the yard with our hands on our heads if they could.
And I know for a fact that the supermarkets lean on people cos I’ve seen it done at first hand. I finally lost my temper at Morrisons in Wakefield and told them in no uncertain terms what I thought. And then the company we were leading for was told not to use that particular transport company (us) any more or else Morissons wouldn’t buy their product any more
It was a hard job at one time but at least you were respected, now its pi$$ easy but you are relegated to the rank and file for what is esentially a skilled job.
I’d like to see some of these places boycotted too, but we’d never get our act together for long enough. I was always staggered when we managed it over the fuel thing for a while. And now we’re paying more for diesel than we were then. What short memories you all have.
You can only do what I did and leave the job. Summat I loved at one time. And I place the blame squarely on the money men who care only about a ‘brand’ or a ‘product’ and how they are going to screw every last possible penny out of it. And everyone fell for it.
Wolfie
PS I’d be curious to see an answer to your letter if they bother.

It means of uncertain authenticity. i.e. in terms of a letter or story it may not be true.
hope thats correct
To be fair to Aldi goods in staff at Neston, they are an ok bunch there. This is none of their doing.
I go in there quite a lot, with bog rolls and have never had a problem. They will tip you early if they have room and don’t mind you being too late as long as you aint taking the pish. They will also let you stay onsite for a 45 if you aren’t blocking the yard. This crap is because of the locals who hate seing us happy truckers driving down their nice affluent roads.
Still on pre-mod after a week I see!

Misspelled but hey?
It means rumoured,or assumed truth.
lefkasman:
Had Morrisons tell me the other day that I could start splitting the pallets down while they went for dinner in the canteen that I am not allowed to use . No thanks, I,ll have my break too.
my dad has done agency work delivering for morrisons and he uses their canteens,he gets his dinner while on his break so i think it sounds like they are taking the mick out of you…
To be fair, you can see where they are coming from, if they get too many complaints from locals then when the O licence comes up for renewal it may be refused or restrictions placed on it which is not much good to Aldi if they’ve spent X million setting the place up, you’d like to think the traffic commisioner would take the Nimby’s with a pinch of salt and abide by the decision to grant the licence in the first place but these things can generate in to a ZB storm with politicians getting involved. It’s just how they’ve worded the letter to suppliers which is at issue, being polite and asking for your suppliers help is better than being threatening. It’s not too hard to find somewhere 15/20/30 mins away and then head on in when you’re due.

And nobody from Aldi or the local council could have foreseen this problem arising?
It’s not rocket science to see that building a RDC, even on an old site, close to residential housing is fraught with problems.
