Ah well thats ZB'd it

I posted before about having an epileptic fit whilst asleep in my wagon and breaking my collarbone last June, I wasn’t sure if it was epilepsy but it has been confirmed now. The only good point was that if i managed not to have a seizure in the following 12 months then I would be able to get my car licence back and then maybe get a van driving job.

Well that’s not going to happen now until at least December 2010, I was at the mother in laws minding my own business on Tuesday night when at about 10-30pm I had a seizure, I cant remember anything about it, apart from coming round when the ambulance people showed up.

I was taken to the hospital and put on the acute assessment ward and observed until the neurological doctor could come and see me, and at 5pm last night he told me what I had feared and it was a seizure  .

So looks like it’s back to the drawing board about a driving job, might try and get a job in a traffic office or something until I can get sorted.

I think the scariest thing is that I don’t remember a thing about it, the wife said I just went white and fell over, I’m lucky that somebody was there really!!

Bummer, must be a real downer. I only go white and fall over when I am doing something I shouldn’t be. Hope you find ways to cope with the affliction and i’m sure people can lead a full life with medication and proper medical help. Chin up.

Can only offer best wishes mate, keep your spirits up

It was funny that i was thinking about you yesterday when I saw a job advertised in Hull. I have sent you a PM about it.

Wishing you best of luck and know what a bummer it is to be put out of work through ill health.

Dont get down about it, something will turn up, it may be in the PM :stuck_out_tongue:

Cheers Wheel nut, will give it a try, they can only say no!! Like I said before I could be a traffic manager but then thinking about it I have an ounce of common sense so that’s a no no!! (tin hat on and duck!!) :stuck_out_tongue:

Are you on ESA and DLA ?
If yes, and you should be, then there is plenty of help waiting for you - free courses, help for retraining etc etc

I’m still on sick from my current employers, the problem is that I can’t quit as this invalidates my mortgage protection, they only cover me if I’m on sick or if I have been sacked or made redundant, the problem is they wont sack me or make me redundant in case I try and claim something from them. I have told them about the situation regarding my mortgage and they couldn’t care less so the ball is in their court as I am not quitting.

I have PPI on my credit cards but it only lasts for 12 months, but at least you are not having to worry about losing your house.

sorry to hear about your health problems potter. :frowning:
can only say,i hope you get sorted as soon as in your employment situation, more importantly that you get your health sorted.

Sorry to hear about your probs mate, I understand how you must be feeling, I had to give up work initially because my wife has siezures, she doesn’t know they are coming on and doesn’t know she has had them apart from the aching muscles and wanting to sleep for hours on end afterwards (most recent one was last night to be truthful), she can go for months without one then have two or three a day, I know how to deal with it when it happens now and it is still a bit scary, have a look here: epilepsy.org.uk there is lots of help and support about, I know it seems that it’s the end of the world but it isn’t, if you want to chat or anything please feel free to pm me.

Good luck mate.

Echo all that’s been said above.

Hope that something turns up for you, and that 2010 is a turning point in your health.

I have to say, the only time I turn white, is when the wife goes shopping.

Thanks for all the wishes, the best part if you can say that is the wife’s auntie had seen me earlier and I had complained of not feeling 100% and she just said “stop moaning like a girl and get on with it!!!”

Needless to say she keeps ringing me up to make sure I’m ok!!

Its not been a great year but I hope the next year will be better!!

Thanks again for all the well wishes!!

Good luck I am sure you are finding this news both distressing and hard to cope with, seriously bad timing being so near to Crimbo. Good luck for the future and I hope it does’nt affect christmas too badly :frowning:

Sorry to hear of your problems, your best bet when your health is sorted, get in the office and get some qualifications, such as your CPC national, with your experience you should get a job as a traffic organiser or planner at the very least.
Best of luck.

best of luck
at least you have an answer to your problem

now say after me
i could have done that in half the time
we used to go for days before we stopped
in my day we had

etc etc

Thats really bad luck, I really feel for you. Its definitely not nice to be hit with something like that especially when it’s your livelihood that’s effected. I hope something really positive turns up for you real soon. Hold tight.

Cheers Papermonkey, to be honest the minute I went on sick, I had a gut feeling that it was epilepsy, when it was confirmed it was a case of getting on with it, the bit that has got me is that until Tuesday night I was getting my car licence back, now its gonna be December 2010 at the earliest.

Just gotta look forward now and try and get retrained, its not going to be easy but I’m sure it will happen, on the plus side I get a free bus pass!!!

Sorry to hear that Potter, hope it all works out for you

sorry to here that potter hope everything turns out right for you all the best

I keep my fingers crossed for you.

Good think is that with this kind of things the doctors don’t really know how it works. I had a friend of mine, we were working together in scounting and she had the same, once in about 5 or 6 weeks. They said that she will have them all her life and that can be only worse.

We were all shocked, but after couple of years it just gone and she hadn’t a single attack for about 10 years now, and she even thinks about doing her driving license, (she never drove, as she was too affraid of the attacks). It just dissapeared…

So good luck and I hope your problems will go away as well… And good luck with looking for some other job for now - hope you will find something interesting!
