Well done John shes come out smashing. well done mate.
hiya,
Does look really swell is it a former eight wheeler ( badged mammoth major ) or
just having problems getting a " rare as chickens teeth " grill to suit the motor I’m
not being disrespectful it doesn’t detract from the fantastic restoration you have
done on the “lady” would love a little “cabbie” in her to see if I still could.
thanks harry, long retired.

Hiya just a update of my AEC, this is at llandudno this weekend. what a brilliant time we all had, the weather was good
sat and sun but then went downhill for monday,
John
Well done John youve transformed it and it looks great, just reading the comments about the mm6 i may have read them wrong but i thought they made rigids and units as mm6
s
Hiya ramone. yes your right they did make mm6 units… the royal navy had some for pulling missile trailers.
theres a dark blue mm6 on the show scene, simon shelly has a ex royal navy mm6 but is only a cab and chassis.
i think there was more ergo cab mm6’s tractors as wynns had them on the heavy haulage scene.all good stuff.
thanks for the remarks on the aec now she’s looking more finished.the inside needs more attension although
i have put nicer seats in and got the doors and fitting more sorted.i got a genuine sun visor, the blue plastic
thing that you look through.
John
Looking great John, what a tranformation from last seeing it at smallwood last year. Its a credit to you.Didn’t get chance to get down to the show this year but will definately be at smallwood at the end of the month if you are taking her along.

Mammoth Majors were available as 6 and 8 wheeler rigids and 6 and 8 wheeler tractor units right through the range from Mk.III in the late 1940s , Mk. V years and up to the end of Ergo cab production in 1977. Plenty of Mammoth Major 6 tractor units saw service in both the UK and overseas.
adr:
Pictured at Southall.
This Motor Panels cab was used as on option by AEC on its special Mammoth Major heavy duty six-wheeler from about 1967 until 1973. These were designed for site work and bought in quantity by such as Wimpey and McAlpine. A very tough, reliable and successful lorry. The other cab options were the Ergo tilt cab (not ideal for site work), a coach built MkV style structure builty by Partk Royal, or the rarer Motor Panels cab as above. Same basic cab as used by Guy and Seddon.

Bye 'ell, that IS a handsome machine, the work you’ve done does you great credit sir, well done.

I DO like pre BL AEC’s, fine motors. The Marshall that I got new in 1962 was one of the best motors I ever used.

Hiya ramone…no!! i live in north wales so i’ll just go across to newark…i would think it would cost me £300+ to
go down to southall then run back up to Newark and back home.
John
hi 3300john , nice truck , mick would be proud , surprised more of his old trucks have not found there way on here , 8x8 aec for example , as far as i know he is now in france and has sold everything , as already said on here , aec 100 should be worth a look !
Great work with the MM6 over the winter John mate, well done.
Here’s another MM6,but an Ergo and a V8 too! What a cracker, looks like it’s in Australia. Note how Leyland have put their name to it. Not many of these went to Oz,so it’s very rare.
