Hi guys Been 3 months since getting my licence back after being done the morning after drinking… no luck in finding a job… if any one has any advice or knows any agency/companies they could suggest…? would be much appreciated…. no need to give me grief. Been a struggle, embarrassing and loseing my job in the first place has been hard enough.
cheers
I’ve merged your two topics that had the same title so as to keep all the replies in one place. dd.
You’ll find it EXTREMELLY difficult to get an agency to take you with a DR. And even if you do get one, they will in turn struggle to get companies to take an agency driver with said DR so your best bet is just keep plugging away till someone gives you a chance. But 3 months is a short time.
As someone who has 3 points for a mobile phone offence (the heinous crime of moving it from my dashboard to my centre console while stopped at traffic lights) I know only too well that the endorsment on your license might not properly tell the whole story. Unfortunately yours is a pretty serious, and frowned upon, one.
Good luck anyway.
Try the big, self insuring, companies. They look at your abilities and willingness to work. And tbey dont have an insurance company that says no.
Dont ask me how I know, but Turners didnt mind, lloyd Fraser didnt mind, and at least one agency I worked for for about six years didnt mind either. Be upfront about it, and make it absolutely clear it was a one of…
Try skip and tipper firms there insurance tends to Cover young drivers endorsements etc.
Also try local small firms where you are more likely to be judged on merit and may be able to agree to pay an aditional excess in result of accident etc rather than the computer says no attitude of bigger firms.
Be prepared to be hung drawn and quartered by the trucknet moral majority before long though.
A possibility might be to offer to pay to have an alcholock installed on your truck?
But I fear it’s going to be very difficult for a potential employer to get his insurer to take you on. One tip is that a very large company finds it easier to get one driver with a questionable record accepted than a small one will…quite simply the large number of drivers on the policy dilutes the risk.

you really think so the likes of Tesco etc wont even sniff your way with that on a ticket…
you need to look at it another way , who do I want , a driver that has driven drunk or one that ain’t been caught
To the OP, how much over being the morning after were you over ■■
Quite a few large companies self insure and don’t have insurance companies dictating who can and can’t drive their trucks and wether they pay increased premiums, so will be the haulage company perogative not to employ drivers with driving convictions.
You could set fire to the paper part of your licence in June, then hope no one asks for your permission to check your driving record.
If the drink was in a pint pot then you have been JUGGED
Think you need a change of career mate …STEW A WHILE…lmoa…end of the day you got two hopes of finding a company that will take you on with a DR30… No Hope and Bob Hope and one of them is dead.
To many people out there that haven’t got this on there licence wanna chance, think this will put you down the pecking order
Maybe try working on the warehouse side of things, maybe as a forkie, build up a trust etc and one day they just might be desperate for a driver. Or be a plumber you take some ■■■■ but a lot less hours and more money.
