hi my name is ian thompson,my father keith thompson worked for forsey transport in the early years too from 1967-1976, going all over europe also to the middle east to persia. please could you forward my email to Ron (Roy) Chapman? I would love to see if he remembers my late father. His Volvo F86 registration was YYD 699H, he also had a mercedes Registration OYA 792L. Any more Pics of the old Forsey fleet would be great as most of the photographs we had have been lost. The names I can remember that drove for them at the time are: Mike Townsend and Dad’s old running partner, Paul Thompson (no relation).
HELLO IAN T IF YOU GO TO LONG DEPARTED SOUTHAMPTON HAULIERS PAGE 93 I HAVE PUT ONE ON OF OYA 797L ,
DAD WORKED FOR HATTONS AND WAS A GOOD MATE WITH ALL ON FORSEYS
Two old Forsey’s drivers that I knew were Jack Tidball and Bill Stradling, both now sadly departed from this life.
Jack was the father of Dave Tidball, (also now dead) who was a mate of mine when I was driving on Autobars from Bridgwater in the 70’s, and Bill worked with me on the buses in Weston-s Mare, when he gave up the wagons in 1979, until his retirement.
I used to live not far from the old Forsey’s knacker yard in Worle in the late 50’s (before they moved to Bridge Road in Weston) and the smell from there was awful, if the wind was in the wrong direction!
Les.
