All the time the Left has so many rainbow facets to it - Labour are unelectable at future elections.
Just as the ULEZ prevented Labour winning Uxbridge recently, so the Greens will prevent both the Libdems and Labour taking anywhere near enough seats off the Tories at the next election - to give this country anything other than yet another hung parliament, like we now see in Spain all over again…
No “Far Right” coalition is going to happen, because the Vox LOST net seats, which means the largest party now cannot include just a single other party to gain power.
I suspect that next year - we’ll see the election in October rather than December (the latest it can happen) and whilst Keir Starmer’s Labour will win a fair number of seats off the SNP, they won’t win many off the Tories because those Tory seats like Uxbridge that were “vulnerable” are now OUT OF REACH because the ULEZ is here to stay, and so is the Blue Rossette on that formerlly winnable would-be Labour seat…
Inner Cities - will decide the next election. People on BOTH sides of the political divide - have had it to the back teeth with what we’ve gone through these past 3 years…

Interesting that the climate change seems to be happening at a faster rate than anyone expected -
It is becoming widely accepted (though still unofficial) that we are living through a new geological epoch, the Anthropocene, (anthropo = man or mankind) which will in the future be detectable in the Earth’s strata as distinct from the previous epoch, the Holocence, by virtue of the activities of the human race. education.nationalgeographic.or … hropocene/
We arent reaching the targets of the Paris agreement.I think we should limit vehicles to 50mph.Why not? We are only a small island.Whats the mad rush to go anywhere. Also,I know its nice to have a big family but is two children not enough?
You can switch to a green electric provider and ,if you can drive a hybrid car.My next car will be a hybrid.Maybe when you fly,you can offset your carbon.Im in the US states this week.Dont see much care for the envoirement here.Everyone car mad, nobody wants to use the scruffy trains

Climate change is real enough, but the reasons behind it vary, according to one’s faith, or lack thereof:-
The Religious might believe that Climate change is “God’s Judgement” upon the Earth, as foretold in the Book of Revelation, chapter 13 in particular.
The Non-Religious might believe that Climate Change is because we’ve pumped too much CO2 into the atmosphere, and only the culling of Mankind and other Mammals (the main source of exhaled breath after all…) will get the Earth’s remaining population back onto an even keel.
The “Don’t Care Either Way” as a “Third Way” - might just be getting by, might be prospering in Earth 2023, but in the end are facing the same danger of long-term death as the rest of us are, inhabiting the same planet as we do.
That danger isn’t “Man-Made Climate Change” but rather ignoring the things that natural events (common to us all) have in store for us…
We need to prepare for such events happening, not pretend we can somehow avert them.
Too little CO2 creates LESS green growth, and promotes MORE fires - fact.
…And WTF is happening to our seas that so many dead animals are now being washed up around the world on our beaches?

So you’re on your way to Jewsons right now to order a load of timber, nails, and bitumen-type waterproofing liquid for your DIY arc?

There’s only one accurate way tho - and it’s a pretty simple equation - if you pump X tonnes of carbon into the atmosphere you get Y temperature increase. That’s how it’s always worked whether it was from natural effects 10,000 years ago or man-made today. Climate science is that simple - predicting the weather is another matter but the heat is going up and up unless we stop adding carbon.

I dont agree with everything you post on here but I think you have it right here.I believe climate change is man made too and as for someone calling you arrogant just because you have a different point of view from them,I mean, whats all that about?
Wasnt there an old saying. The strongest words are always saved for the weakest arguments…
All we can do,I think,is try and reduce our personal carbon footprint but, like Tony Blair says, our efforts will be dwarfed by countries like China. So even though your efforts wont make any significant difference,at least you can look back and say you tried.

Are we paying the private company 500 million to come here? And then they keep all the profits? That’s the usual way.

You’re apparently the champion of the working man so what do you want? Governments providing incentives may well ■■■■ but what are the alternatives? Perhaps offer no incentives and watch the company locate in France/Germany/Spain?
What good would that do to locals desperate to get off the benefits train? All that private taxation revenue going into the government coffers would not exist, local businesses would not benefit from an influx of workers, the local council would not receive much needed filter down revenue and would most likely need to squeeze hard up locals even further.
People from around the north will probably remember when we bent over backwards to attract Nissan to Washington. It seemed very radical at the time. Anyone who’s been near Nissan will know it’s like it’s own town, with countless satellite companies.
I’ve known a few people who worked there, one now a senior manager in an automative related company refers to them as The Evil Empire
We are Nissan. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.
Despite all that, was it a bad idea that we gave them millions and millions of pounds, and shed loads of land, to come here? I think not.

As I asked, what would please you?
Maybe put some of the profits back into the local area instead of to the shareholders back in China or wherever? Not asking much - a few grand to fill a few potholes - ANYTHING but sheer naked greed with other peoples money. That doesn’t sound fair to you when you’re taking 500 million off people who can’t afford to give it to you? And you’re already a billionaire? Come on.

Reminds me of TATA steel now - we paid them millions to take over the factory and now they’re saying it’s not profitable enough so you’ve got to give us millions more or we’ll shut the factory. They don’t even offer any guarantee that the money we give them will be spent on the factory - it could just go straight to the shareholders for all the guarantee they’re offering.

I totally agree that putting a percentage of the profits would be highly commendable but again we have the problem where introducing caveats like that could possibly see the factory being built in Madrid/Berlin etc instead of Manchester. Of course it would be great if the company itself decided to support directly the local community but there’s no onus upon them to do that. We are where we are in this scenario, but all I know is that even with zero direct financial input to the local community from the company that the local community will still reap indirect benefits moreso than if the company were located elsewhere.
Maybe - but as has been shown with TATA steel in Wales - we can give them hundreds of millions and then they just say we’re going to leave anyway unless you give us another 500 million. So it was just basically a blackmail scheme - a never ending pit of money we’re paying to Indian billionaires. And no-ones even sure where that money goes - it’s totally blind, it could be going straight into a business they have in Africa for all we know.
If we’re giving 500 million why not give it to a British company? (even a publicly owned company so we get some of the profits) and see if they can build the factory instead? Try and encourage our own business instead of relying on foreign companies who will bail out as soon as they feel like it?
