I think the problem we seem to have in the world of “Believers” and “unbelievers” - is simply that if you don’t believe in something - it is then only a small step further to not believe in anything at all, including sensible stuff like “Science” and “facts” and of course “Truth”…
Just because the Religious don’t have a monopoly on “Truth”, doesn’t go on to mean that every Liar on earth is “Legit” because they “don’t do God”.

I don’t think it is possible to be “Saved” by the actions of another flawed human.
“Being Saved” is a decision one takes on for oneself that requires the would-be convert to be the one reaching out TO God, rather than expecting some kind of miracle to come along “without prompting” to suddenly divert one’s life course. There are rather too many charlatans and false prophets out there who’ll use peoples ignorance and confusion to have them “jump the wrong way”, especially on what would become the “Christian Priorities in Life” come resuming one’s life AFTER conversion.
For instance, the as yet UNconverted are very irritated by what they would call the “God Botherer” - the fresh convert who lives and breathes their new faith, and insists on ramming it down the throats of others, who are unlikely to welcome it as a consequence OF that “hard sell”.
If you cannot keep the Lord’s Commandments for youself initially, then it is hardly surprising that others won’t be very impressed by your stance, until you’ve had some kind of long term track record where people looking at your menagerie’s experience of life - taking them places that, maybe THEY would like to go too… THAT is the way I reckon “Converts would come in droves” given half the chance.
Many people might wish for a “Road to Damascus” style conversion to the Christianity process, but the vast majority of Christian Converts I would argue are merely “Tangoed” in the more subtle way, that one observes rather too many close-up facts developing in plain sight that “don’t make any sense” unless there is a higher power involved.
“Higher Power” - is a double edged sword though.
The heavenly Host were once a united force, but are now divided between the “Loyal” (To God) and the “Cast Down” (those that backed Lucifer in the failed Putsch)
That the world they were cast down to is right here, this planet Earth (Likely a combination of all and any organic-friendly Earth-LIKE planet anywhere in any star system) - the enemies of Satan are going to be those things that “Travel well in Heaven” (Space) and the “diabolical allies” - those things that are bound to this earth, such as our animal biology.
Iron, Salt, and Water (traditional enemy substances to the Devil and Demons alike) - can exist in space - Blood and Flesh - cannot. This leaves just water as the go-between that can exist anywhere, albeit in different states such as Steam or Ice rather than the liquid we all need to sustain this biological form we use as a “vehicle” for this life.
Any biological creature that dies - gradually or quickly loses all it’s water following the physical death. It might be in half an hour in a crematorium retort, or take a number of weeks left “lying around”, or even years - buried underground in the dark and damp soil.
Other creatures, given the chance - will attempt to plunder any physical remains for the moisture content, with other creatures still that are more interested in the “Hard crusty bits”, rather than the gooey bits that make so much smell, and of course - attract the very creatures that would have such moist bits disposed of quickly and efficiently.
“Turned into Corruption” is the way the Bible puts this process.
We could equally call it “Lose all one’s water” or even “Lose one’s ability to prep for Space Travel”.
It may even be the case that a person who dies without issue, and is then cremated - is then destroyed FOREVER (second death concept), since that DNA that was that person in essence - shall never be repeated again, as there are just too many combinations of DNA that make it likely possible, especially in such a locale as a single star system, and single life-permitting planet within that star system.
The Bible often talks about “Judgement” involving “Fire”.
I don’t think it is a coincidence that both Jews and Muslims - dislike “Cremation”, and have as “Tradition” this notion that a person should be buried by the sunset of the next day following their death…
Meanwhile, the only country I can think of that cremates a higher percentage of it’s dead than the Western nations jointly do - is Japan, who don’t have “God” as their first religion, but rather “Shinto” that involves Ancestor Worship, nothing like Christianity in that regard, and one could argue makes even less sense to the non-believer of ANY religion…

The Crusades were all about the defence of the Middle Eastern Christians from persecution by their Islamic neighbours.
The need to kill in WW2 is equally obvious as opposed to allowing Hitler’s murderous regime to flourish and win.
