I was talking metephorically.I do actually swat flies and like eating meat but I did try one of those vegetarian burgers in mcdonalds and it was very nice,much better than what I expected

Take it from one who knows, my parents were Baptists although not quite as bad as you sound.
By the age of 15 I had been to church enough that If I lived to the age of a 100yrs I would still average going to church once a week.
Anyway, I sought escape and luckily went away to sea, 1 year at Nautical College from age 16 then off into the wide world wonder.
It wasn’t until many years later (when he was in his 80s) that my father woke up to the fact that all his God Bothering was a 4k up and he apologised for it.
He didn’t have many years left and unfortunately not enough to recover from all those years of Christian Lies & Manipulation.

Im sorry to hear of the losses but you have restricted what my response is.
This world is ugly of course,there are sweet moments but a lot of it is trouble and worry about sickness and losing loved ones.
God promises to put everything right for us in the next life but thats only for those of us who trust Him.Man has been disobedient to God and rejected Him all throughout the ages but we still expect Him ti keep blessing us.I asked everyine on this forum if they kept the commandments .Nobody replied that they hadnt at some time lied,stolen,adultery(even looking with ■■■■ at a woman,Jesus called it adultery in the heart,disrespected our parents,yes,have we not all broken that rule at some time .With all this sin,we cant then put God in a position where He owes us anythingHe has laid out a plan for our salvation but it is His terms,not ours.The worse punishment that Jesus suffered on the cross wasnt the physical punishment but the temporary seperation from the Father.It was worse than any suffering that any human has suffered on earth
