7.5t 'Except for Access'....?

Dr Damon:

theflyingdustman:
Theres many places our lot go in a 26 tonner where theres a 7.5 limit, nothing has ever been said. Or is it because we are in dustcarts and are exempt ?

There are certain vehicles that are exempt.

And LGV Learners on test!

Definitely not exempt at all, shows how much you know.

Trainers and examiners usually get you to do the independent drive heading towards a weight limit, turn before it and you pass, go through it and you fail.

Dr Damon:

Dr Damon:
Unfortunately as usual we all get tarred with the same brush because some drivers do exactly what they want especially if they think they will not get caught.

So what’s your view on general rule bending then Dr D, with no third party detriment of course?
Or are you zero tolerance kind of guy when it comes to any rules or regulations being bent.

Me? I prefer an initiative based approach on the particular individual rule’s merits, and ask myself …What’s the worst that can happen here if I don’t conform, and how much do I stand to gain or in some cases lose (as long as nobody else suffers)
I aint talking specifically wt limits here btw either, just things in general.
I would love to hear the views of a guy like yourself who comes across as a ‘never do anything wrong’ type paragon of virtue, especially with your opinionated negative views of us drivers.

Ok rob I will be completely honest with you as you seem one of the more level headed on here. In my younger days I like some now did not really care about very much and consequently broke a few rules thankfully without causing any harm to myself or others. Don’t get me wrong though I was no maniac behind the wheel, well until someone upset me and then usually all hell broke loose.

Thankfully now I am more aware of the problems and dangers that some drivers cause and that infuriates me especially when bad attitude is included.
I accept your point about using initiative but let’s be honest some just do not know where to start or don’t have any in the first place.
To conclude I must admit to being pretty straight now which is probably partly due to maturity and partly because I realise the problems that can be caused by breaking some rules.

OMG did I really just say all that.

Ok, on the whole I agree with you.and I was the same when younger, but a bit different now, there are many things I did when young that I would never do now, on the road and in life in general, which is obviously part of growing up.

Where we differ is our attitude towards some driver’s attitudes, actions and abilities. I just tend to shake my head in disgust call them a ■■■■ under my breath, then just move on, it aint worth raising my blood pressure imo.

Infuriate ? No, because there’s no way I can change these guys, so I just let it go and concentrate on my own work.

I also agree on your point about lack of initiative, and in many cases common sense today among some of these driver impersonators, but as before what can I, or indeed you, do to change it.

I also, as you, am pretty straight now, but maybe unlike you, I admit to being selective in my approach towards many rules and regs,… especially if they are unneccesary, ridiculous, pedantic, or plain bloody stupid as many are today.
If that makes me an unprofessional driver, then so be it.

It’s called getting old and not having any balls anymore or no bottle or could not be bothered and most of all its called I’m all right jack, and we complain the way new drivers behave nothing ever changes in this job and never will

Mate, you interpret it however you like, I aint really bothered to be honest, your badly thought out synopsis of me is based purely and only on posts on an internet forum, so why would I really care what the likes of you think .
However, when you actually know me, then come back with your opinions on me, because you evidently know the thick end of ■■■■ all what I am like in real life.

Anyway I’ll play along with your badly thought out post just to humour you, so here goes.

Getting old?
Yeh we all are.

No balls or bottle?
Well :open_mouth: …that’s the first time in life I have ever had that one chucked at me.

Can’t be bothered anymore?
Guilty as charged, cant be arsed with how the job has deteriorated, stupid bloody rules, idiots who run the job, …oh yeh, nearly forgot, and one or two pricks on here. :bulb:

I’m alright Jack?
What’s the alternative, nobody will stick together anymore, they’re too frightened, so do I just join them like you, and become Mr Downtrodden, or look after myself the best way I can.

Complain about how new drivers behave?
Not me, but I’ll complain about how crap drivers behave, …young or old.

Nothing ever changes in the job, and never will?
Well it has changed a lot mate which you would know if you hadn’t just been it for 5 minutes.
It would change for the better if there was an element of solidarity among drivers, look at the Railway guys, like them we could demand all sorts of justifiable needs if it happened, but for once I actually agree with you :open_mouth: …it never will.

Dr Damon:
Oh dear heisenberrg you really like to repeat yourself over and over. I have read everything properly believe me but I am still waiting for the answer to my question?
Strange how you have completely omitted that all along.
It’s entirely up to you whether you use them all the time but like anything else one day it will go wrong and I hope nobody else suffers from your selfishness as has happened plenty in the past if you care to do a little research on the subject and then the police will be involved and you will be prosecuted and I will not feel sorry for you in the slightest.

Subject closed due to bad attitude.

If you paid the slightest bit of attention you will notice that drivers do not get prosecuted for breaking a 7.5 limit.

If you paid the slightest bit of attention you will find they do fella(especially when it all goes wrong) and even if they did not does that make it ok?
You still have not answered my original question. Come on pay attention now!

Your original question I believe was to ask me if I knew why 7.5 ton limits are in place.

The answer to your question is Yes…but it was obviously a rhetorical question anyway.

I have written about many of the reasons why the limits are in place.

You have written further that you used to break the rules a lot and implied that you used to be prone to road rage…

You suggest that you have now changed and abide by every one of the rules of the road. Good for you…not sure anyone is going to be interested though.

Emergency Vehicles

Dustcarts I would imagine.

And LGV Learners on test!

Took my test from Beverly, the route took me through Cottingham which is riddled with weight limits. I was told that passing one would be an instant fail.

This.

I was told exactly the same.

Instant fail if I’d passed one.

I’vealso heard of the police enforcing this law.

that is the operative word though isn’t it EXCEPT FOR ACCESS,they need to word it better

that is the operative word though isn’t it EXCEPT FOR ACCESS,if I was stopped and asked why I am going through I would reply because I need access to the other side, where does it say you are not allowed to,it doesn’t,i would argue the point with a jobsworth

Some of them say Access Only. Others say Except for Loading…does that mean if you are Unloading you can be fined ?

The whole legislation is a joke …that’s why they gave it Trading Standards to control…

Just checked that out…

I said that route back on page two before Colin, where’s my [zb]ing thanks?

One does not need to know one to know what and how they are in person
One can tell a lot from ones posts what that person thinks and how he responds
It’s not rocket science people say and talk here as to who and what they are thinking, normally they would not in real life so what you’re seeing here is real
I would have thought you would have had the sense to know that i am very disappointed

Wrong it was not a rhetorical question and I certainly cannot find your answers anywhere. Anyway my main point is that you seem to disregard these signs to benefit yourself without considering the problems you could cause.

You are quite correct that I said I used to break the rules but not these kind of rules. I used to break speed limits at certain times and I used to put some in their place if they were causing me a problem with their bad driving. They can put their own lives on the line but if they are putting mine at risk then as far as I am concerned they get what they deserve. End of.

One would like to inform one that one is delighted that one thinks that way, but one suspects one really means expectations and that one has mispelt one’s intended word.
So if one does not mind, and if one could be so bold towards one, one would one suggest to one that one …does one.
