Dr Damon:
Oh dear heisenberrg you really like to repeat yourself over and over. I have read everything properly believe me but I am still waiting for the answer to my question?
Strange how you have completely omitted that all along.
It’s entirely up to you whether you use them all the time but like anything else one day it will go wrong and I hope nobody else suffers from your selfishness as has happened plenty in the past if you care to do a little research on the subject and then the police will be involved and you will be prosecuted and I will not feel sorry for you in the slightest.
Subject closed due to bad attitude.
If you paid the slightest bit of attention you will notice that drivers do not get prosecuted for breaking a 7.5 limit.
If you paid the slightest bit of attention you will find they do fella(especially when it all goes wrong) and even if they did not does that make it ok?
You still have not answered my original question. Come on pay attention now!
Dr Damon:
For this reason and many more we will all soon be controlled by computers and robots because humans just never ever learn. Sad state of affairs really.
Not to be pedantic or anything but who do you think tells these computers and robots what to do in the first place?
Drivers do indeed get fined for it, why would the haulier get the fine? .Even if the haulier told them to do it, that still doesn’t justify it, if they ask you to speed you will get the ticket and points, if you have a brake light out you get the fine and points, if you get caught with migrants in the back of your truck you receive a fine. You have driven through the weight restriction therefor you receive the fine. Drivers need to take responsibility for their own actions and make the choice.

NO REALLY. Wow you know your stuff fella!
You know, I do suspect I detect just a smidgeon of sarcasm
Heisenberrg:
Sorry I missed your earlier question.
The point I was making, which I suspect you would have grasped if you had read the post thoroughly, is that the employers have a duty of care to ensure that routes do not include 7.5 ton limits.
Apart from my three recent visits i havent driven in the UK for a very long time but…are you saying employers/transport office are planning routes for drivers now?? What happened re a driver thinking for himself and going his own route? I cant agree its the TM’s job to route drivers around obstacles, its down to the driver. Maybe its a different culture in the UK now but TF values havent changed over here…yet…
Hank Hill:
Aren’t tippers exempt of weight restrictions
Above the law like many others!
I (and many others!) always went through Derby instead of going all around the blooming ring road. From Markeaton Island straight down Ashbourne road and out onto the A52 and away towards Nottingham and the M1 in a few minutes instead of queuing on the ring road, plus it was a few miles shorter. One of our hauliers reckoned if he managed a dozen trips through and only got caught once the fine was still less than the cost of fuel used going around! [emoji38] Then again we did a lot of work in Derby so needed access anyway…
Pete.
Ahh yes Derby, now there’s a prime example of 12 miles around or 2 straight throug. I nerd to think thst one over [emoji16]

Me? I prefer an initiative based approach on the particular individual rule’s merits, and ask myself …What’s the worst that can happen here if I don’t conform, and how much do I stand to gain or in some cases lose (as long as nobody else suffers)
I aint talking specifically wt limits here btw either, just things in general.
As i do and always have inc weight/speed. I have my own ‘interpretation’ of certain regs (the whole company does ) and as long as its not detrimental to anyone else i just get on with it…
Goldfinger:
Just how far can you ‘push your luck’, when needing to go through a ‘except for access’ weight limit…■■
We go through here through the day to get the Asda RDC on Earls Road, but can we still get there from the south, from junction 5 off the M9 after 6pm, instead having to go past on the M9, find a junction to turn round at and then come back down…■■?
Sorry should have said come off at junc 5 take first exit on to the A9 follow to the 1st roundabout go straight on then at 2nd roundabout go right then 3rd roundabout straight on and 4th roundabout go right on to the A904 falkirk road once on falkirk road next roundabout its straight on to earls road and asda is on your left.
Dr Damon:
Unfortunately as usual we all get tarred with the same brush because some drivers do exactly what they want especially if they think they will not get caught.
So what’s your view on general rule bending then Dr D, with no third party detriment of course?
Or are you zero tolerance kind of guy when it comes to any rules or regulations being bent.

I would love to hear the views of a guy like yourself who comes across as a ‘never do anything wrong’ type paragon of virtue, especially with your opinionated negative views of us drivers.
Ok rob I will be completely honest with you as you seem one of the more level headed on here. In my younger days I like some now did not really care about very much and consequently broke a few rules thankfully without causing any harm to myself or others. Don’t get me wrong though I was no maniac behind the wheel, well until someone upset me and then usually all hell broke loose.
Thankfully now I am more aware of the problems and dangers that some drivers cause and that infuriates me especially when bad attitude is included.
I accept your point about using initiative but let’s be honest some just do not know where to start or don’t have any in the first place.
To conclude I must admit to being pretty straight now which is probably partly due to maturity and partly because I realise the problems that can be caused by breaking some rules.
