if you work six hours say for eg: start at 6amwork for 2 hours drive for 1hour then work for a further 2 and a half hours am i right in saying I would only need a 15 minute break before the six hours are up or do you need a full 30 minutes.

For the WTD you need a 15 minute break before exceeding 6 hours working time not before reaching 6 hours working time.
Apart from that yes you are right
Thanks for that just needed to clear that up as I wasn’t 100% sure.

No.
Yes if you work for DHL.
But that is just company policy.
The directive says as Tachograph has pointed out above. 15 minutes is the minimum break required before exceeding 6 hours working time.

As other have said please feel free to quote anything in the regulations that suggests that a 30 minute break is required before exceeding 6 hours working time, it’s 15 minutes
By the way, welcome to Trucknet-UK
What happens if you worked 6 till 12 with no break, would you have broken the law? Or would you then just need 15 mins break as you haven’t exceeded 12 hours work, I know this sounds stupid, I’m just not reading this right lol
I know this doesn’t really affect me or many as 6 hours with no break is rare.

No law broken, but you would need at least a 15 min break at 12. Unless you finish at 12 then no break needed

How on earth can you get an infringement for being legal?

Is that the same DHL that warn you about the landing legs and VOSA fine?

Up in Yorkshire we call wasps Jaspers.
They come in hover around and bugger off just as sharp. No one can see the point of them

I see… so its a company policy infringement and not a RTD infringement … hope the driver signed for it as that

It’s an infringement ROG, there is no company policy infringement versus a RTD infringement it’s just an infringement.
I’ve no idea why any company would want to force drivers to have more break than is legally required but they pay the wages so they make the rules
WTD: After 6 hours work/driving you must have a break: Minimum 30 minutes.
A break of 30 minutes is required for 6-9 hours work; 45 minutes for over 9 hours.
Breaks can be divided into 15 minute slots. First break must be at least 30 minutes.
Where mixed driving and working is carried out, the drivers’ hours rules on breaks (EC/3820/85) take precedence.
