Although I’ve never been a Scania fan (even after a spell with a 112), looking at the pics has made me realize what a great looking motor they were (are). I think I was just jealous of the blokes driving 'em! Classic design.

same here not a scania fan, i think that the 143 was the last of the best ones and still loads about see lots of them on the scrap now which is a shame . although i never drove a 143 i did have a 142 ,and an early one at that , 380hp it was not 420hp . that one i did like … SAJ 2X was the reg …

We run Daf 85CFs 410 autos and Scania opticruises 420/400s at very low weight the Dafs are poor to reverse and we have endless adblue and ebs faults with them The 420s are bullet proof 400s have had a few gearbox problems

i heard she was for sale gaz 13grand its some lorry for that money

It was, and i asked my dad (who has a O liscence and CPC), however after soul searching we decided that a £15,000 DAF CF or VOLVO FM would be so much better as a fresh start!!!

The 112 I drove (for a bit) was a 320bhp I think, if I’d had a v8 I would’ve thought differently,I’m sure!

Interesting thread with some lovely photos.

i have long been an admirer of the scania 143, and they still today in my opinion are a fantastic looking unit, there are some superb examles currently doing the show circuit.

my uncle began working at thorburn about 3 years ago roughly, and his forst truck was a scania 143, stunning truck which he was given, it wasnt currently working until, he started and was kept as a spare truck, he moved onto volvo fh within about 4 months after another driver left, he had always been a fan of the volvo fh on european work, but soon changed his mind when driving the scania, a truck which to this day he regards as one of the best he has driven,
there is a scania 143 which i have pictured which is often mistaken for an ex thorbrn truck, but to the best of my knowledge it isnt.

Blue Logie, Fat Alfies moter was always moaning it didnt go as well as some of the 143 450s we had often wonder where it went & whether it is doing shows or even still working? I think there is a closer pic of it on here somewhere. It was the 1st 143 i`d driven with the 3 position gearchange.

Has anybody fitted a 13 speed fuller gearbox into a 143 scania, mine went bang last year, i fitted a used box, but i dont trust scania boxs much , so i wont to convert this one, has anybody done it and know what box to fit, clutch and anyother helpfull hints.
