Youtube test: Merc drive gets rude awakening

Clicky

Taken on my Galaxy S3 with DailyRoads Voyager app @ 720p.

This happened at Sainsburys in Hoddesden, a couple of us helped the Merc driver strap his bumper up, it’s amazing how much abs plastic disintegrates.

Should have carried on filming

Blimey I thought that would have wreck more than his bumber. :open_mouth: The Merc got a right old wack!

No harm done, it’s only an axor

Seriously though…how many times do you see this happen !

Similar senario happened to me at wetherby services bout a year ago, had to get out an chase after him as he wasn’t for stopping :smiling_imp:

Blimey, he started turning so early he was never going to get out without causing damage :open_mouth:

Wheel arch was a gonner took the brunt I think, mirrors we bent back into shape so they were usable, did lots of tests/checks to make sure the unit was okay to drive.

The phone did automatically but there wasn’t anything to see, the driver was quite nonchalant about it after the initial shock, glad of a little help and a translator to the lease company. I won’t mention his nationality or this thread will go to 20 pages+.

I hate axors, the more that get destroyed the better, I’d give the fowler driver a pat on the back for that…

Well, that’s f**ked that

It’s actually the opposite. It needed some left hand lock as it pulled off the dock to trade tail sweep for more cut in.The later you leave it the more sweep there is and the less cut in.

you mean he turned too late

Exactly. With euro trailers it’s always a balancing act between sweep and cut in and the later you turn the more tail sweep there is.Simples.

i reckon that merc driver could have gone further back…and just look how far forward the cf is :unamused:

I agree that he should have been closing the gap between him and the vehicle to his left as he came out if that’s what you mean, but what I meant was that he started spinning the trailer round sharp too early.

The trailer was only about half way out when he started spinning the steering wheel round and that was way too early.

It’s not easy to tell how much room there is between the vehicles in the video, but I would say that even if his trailer had been as far to the left as he could get without taking the mirror off the vehicle to his left he would still have clipped the other vehicle turning so early.
