Hi CWM In the seventies Wades used to have a Seddon (not SedAk) 4wheeler with a drag powered by Gardner 180. Used to get into Hexham every Friday for store cattle. I always thought it was a smart waggon. Driver was a young lad (cannot remember his name) but always kept it spotless. Used to pass him waiting to unload pigs at Dixons Meat near to Hyde as we on the way to Walls at Godley. In the eighties they bought a Scania or two.
Perhaps someone can put me right but IIRC the name on the waggons was Wade but the name Saxby was connected somehow ■■?
Hi tyneside, the lad you mean would be Deniss he was a good fellow on that drawbar, he could have been left wades 15 years now, he did pull the trailer with a C plate Scania in later years. Wades was bought by a man called Alan Saxby who also bought Livesleys wagons that is the connection. Cheers for now Sutton Bank Farmer.
Thanks for the info SBF I always wondered what the connection was. IIRC Mr Saxby was a tall fella always wore a cap and smock coat round the marts I watched young Dennis put the wagon and drag onto the top docks at the old Hexham Mart which meant reversing off the street at the top of the hill. Did it with a cuople of shunts nae bother !!! as they say.

Hi Bob and Sutton Bank Farmer,
Thanks for the replies and information , re: A. Wade & Co., t uther side o
t Pennines from here. You are correct about Alan Saxby being a tall bloke . He often attended Hawes Auction in the busier times of the year. I can remember the Seddon ( old Motor Panels cab ) and drawbar, as it used to come into Hawes to lead out , usually after the sale had finished. I didn
t know the driver , though.
S.B.F., you mention the livestockj haulier named Livesley , - would that be the same( Gordon ) Livesley from the Northallerton area ,? I think he owned a ( brown ? ) Leyland Comet in the early 1960`s , that was shown on the front cover of Commercial Motor when new. Got the old grey cells working to remember that .

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Have you seen their new scania with the airbrushin on it? Came from moodys i think, saw their new MAN on a1 last week goin opposite way so couldnt get a pic sadly.
No mate, had no idea about the scanny or MAN. They’ve had every top spec FH going, so wasn’t surprised to see the 750.
I used to stop by their yard in Tibthorpe if I was ever passing, dunno if they’re still based there or are in Driff now?
Great work mate, I’ve been all over google and found nothing
Not that keen on the Scania - what’s the artwork of? FH looks smart though
some big power on show there like!
Where’s their yard now Nick?
Theyre were some at kellythorpe ind est. last time i tipped at readymix plant opposite so presuming thats their yard,i might b wrong though.Mate told me the airbrushed scania was from moodys all extras on it already, its a horse theme looks good tho done a good job on it tbh.
I think it was only 3 mth old when moodys got it in.

I’ll keep and eye out for them. Bet the Scania sounds good with those side pipes on.
Grasby’s always look smart too, good pics
the scania used to belong to a company called outdoor services i think??

just googled them, seems they’re based in Antrim and also have/had this:

Chris Waites Scania R730. Tidy bit of kit I think.

Love the old photos Kevchalluk - Thanks (do hope you come across some more).
Not too many photos of Mark Emlsey’s old wagons kicking about. If I’m not mistaken; I think he also ran a DAF 2100, Volvo F12 and FL7 at some point.
