Yorkshire companies

Revis still going, they are from Tockwith near the old airfield. Mantons are still running a few motors on egg collection and deliverys. There plain white or yellow units with plain white fridges.

Pickups Transport of Leeds, anyone remember them or work for them?

if its jimmy pickup they used to be based next to hellmanns on cemetry rd in bradford not seen any trucks for a while think they may have finished

Jimmy Pickup got stuck with a bad debt, which cost him his business and his house.
or at least thats what I was told.

Thats right Ramone Pickups was run by Paul Pickup who started out as a waste paper merchant down on the Leeds/Liverpool canal in the centre of Leeds and moved into Haulage. I started with him at his yard in Hunslet at the tender age of 21 with no experiance. I went to every operator in Leeds looking for a start but no one was prepared to to take a chance on me but Paul had faith in me, had to start right at the bottom 7.5 tonner first,17 tonner next then holiday cover on the artics. It was a good firm to work for I had a great time there with a good set of lads.

mantons magnum, this used to be almost permanently over the water.

can anybody remeber jimmy Ball and his son Dean of driglington opposite the railway pub before the 650 ran that way they had sky blue units and the rigids were sky blue cabbed with dark blue bodies. They were sharing a yard with a brick delivery firm they were red motors then later on seddon atkinson had a parts shop at the back of the yard

what happened to general haulage used to be the side of elland road,

bit of a huge coincidence, but I was literally just now browsing Malcolm Harrison’s website and there’s mention on there of an auction at Cross Green of General Haulage’s fleet - on 8th February 2003 :open_mouth: they might have carried on as a clearing house after that date I dunno?

They always had an advert in Headlight Magazine and probably still use Truckers Sport
