Hello Seth 70
I was speaking to the salesman from Crossroads yesterday who sold the first couple of FH16 660’s to Adamson and they were definitely FH16 also there was an article in Volvo’s in house magazine ‘Inside Lane’ in 2008 in which they stated at the time that he had 10 on the road with 2 more joining the fleet later that year (2008) hope this clears up any confusion. regards prattman.

browns used to be based in otley, they did a lot of work for TEREX (plant) with there distinctive range trucks they were hard to miss, a member of my family has a photo somewhere of one of there daf low roof 6 wheelers with a TEREX machine on the back.

any more photos of these would be great! my dad remembers them like it was yesterday!

thanks will88

I’d be very interested to see any pics of Fred Brown’s trucks. My uncle married his daughter and I used to quite regularly be taken to the yard (out at Riffa beyond Pool) to sit in the cabs and pretend I was driving when I was a nipper. My fondness for lorries was obviously apparent even then.
Any pictures of Ogden’s of Otley truks would be a bonus, too.

Here’s a few owner drivers from the Catterick area, firstly Terry Johnson he was from Hackforth but he moved many years ago to Humberside is he still about?, secondly Chris Howitt from Tunstall does anyone know what he is doing these days and lastly Malcolm Hudson what a true gentleman he is nothing is to much trouble for ‘Big Blue’ he was a big help to me over the years, sadly he lost his HGV because of diabetes but he managed to successfully downgrade in time to a small sprinter van which I believe he still oprates now. regards prattman.

it was a fitter at crossroads south elmsall who pointed to a picture of the trucks on the wall and said they only badges stuck on them ,i thought it was a lot of messing to change them all,are they still going adamsons

s w adamson had 14 fhi6s at one time I worked on them all and drove them…terry has a Renault magnum now he still pulls containers as far as I know and malc big blue Hudson is still going strong the mans a legend…still keeps his motors in fine shape and always clean…

Here’s some of Allen Browns over the years and one of Barry Reads Magnum taken at Pickering show. regards prattman.

Just a few to wet the appetite?
