Yet another ban

Yet another stretch of road that will be almost completely ■■■■■■ up for us then if this clown gets the green light

bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-22700170

i reckon that he will as well

It’s a shame Rodney doesn’t consider fixing the bloody road surface a priority as well - the bit between Margaretting & Brentwood is getting beyond a joke.

I’m sure when the ban comes in, and the accidents start building up as car drivers have to dive between the HGVs to get on and off the road, then it’ll all be the lorry drivers’ faults and we’ll be pilloried for it again.

So we have one truck moving at 50, with most other trucks catching him wanting to do 55.

This eventually ends up with a 5 mile convoy, and because traffic on the sliproad has to give way to the convoy already on the carriageway you end up with another mile queue back down said sliproad and through the village.

I’ll be damned if I’ll be backing off to let 'em out, I’m too busy wanting to get past this ■■■■■■ sat at 50!

Can imagine many upset motorists.

And the people who are to blame for starting this?.. The prats that feel its acceptable to spend 3 miles overtaking another truck!

Absolutely spot on Saaamon. Hundreds of drivers held up because some moron who is barely doing 0.1MPH faster than the wagon in front thinks that a 5 mile overtake is perfectly fine. On the A12 this is a situation that from a legal standpoint shouldn’t be occurring anyway as the speed limit for a HGV is 50MPH so there should be no 5 mile overtakes.

Isn’t 50 the legal speed limit. If you need to go faster you’re in the wrong job lol

Good point ,and what will happen to lane one with all the extra weight sitting on it for longer ,it’ll be like a dirt track in no time .If common sense hadn’t been outlawed by the EU then they would drop the speed limit to 50mph for cars instead of restricting HGV’s even more.
There is a short stretch on the A1 western bypass in Newcastle(around the Metro center) that has a no overtaking rule and it hasn’t made a blind bit of difference

“some moron who is barely doing 0.1MPH”

so you touch the brakes to drop back in and the guy behind is saying “what’s this ■■■■ braking for”

can’t win

Your arguement fell apart here.

If HGV drivers accepted the fact that the speed limit for us on dual carriageways is 50 MPH we would never have a problem. That way, everyone would have k’s left in the bank to hurry up an overtake if needs be. Instead, HGV drivers largely treat DC’s like motorways and crack on with the CC consistently set at 55/56 - this is illegal. We haven’t a leg to stand on.

Obviously, nobody is whiter than white, virtually everyone is guilty of speeding sometimes myself included. But we need to accept the fact that the inevitable rolling out of these overtaking bans on A roads is 100% of our own making. Anyone who doesn’t accept the negative impact slow overtakes have on traffic flow on a busy road is burying their head in the sand.

i dont see why they have to ban us from over taking surely all it takes is a cursory glance in the offside mirror frequently you see a truck trying to over take you slow it down a couple of k so he can get passed quicker i know i do then let him back in makes life easier for all and it means that stupid bans like these need not be around

But i do agree there are drivers out there that make it difficult for us to over take them & that by doing a 5 mile overtake we are making a rod for our own back - i say if you think you can do it safely do it if it turns out you cant do it then get back in your box & let someone else have ago

I agree and often back off for people only to have them swing in 3 feet of my bumper and no thanks but that another story all together… But as someone else has already pointed out when you’ve got 2 lorries following you the second you ease off and bang their out trying to overtake you!

I cant wait for these overtaking bans, at the moment I couldnt give a toss if my trailer misses the boat and it will be a big ■■■■ you to all the clowns that wont back off the limiter for a few miles!

The ban is happening because they don’t do that.

What i usually is let the driver trying to over take me go for it because its usually the guy i passed going up the hill passing me on the flat or down hill let him go & get in then back on the power before the guy behind him has chance to even think of following through

here’s an idea ,instead of spending 14 squillion £’s on a train set for rich people we update our road network .Maybe if it was explained to el gov that the reason why a lot of our A roads are choked and have loads of HGV traffic on them is because of the dirty great factory estates and food processing plants at the end of them

or the fact that britain has one of the oldest & worst road networks in the EU i mean look at germanys autobhan its only 3 lanes wide in some places but you never really see that as clogged up as the M25 (or other roads) and its 4 & 5 lanes wide in places
