Yellow warning light on dashboard

Hello. I have a yellow warning light on the dashboard in my new lorry. I think it’s telling me there is a fault with the lights. The dealer said that, because it’s been converted to a horsebox, and they put extra lights on during the conversion, it will show all the time. Has anyone else heard of this and is it acceptable?

All bulbs working and correct wattage ?:

. Yes all bulbs working. Not sure how to check wattage though?

That’s not an acceptable answer from a dealer. With more modern cars they know when a bulb is not working properly. From what I know, the car knows if a bulb is working because of the resistance when an electrical current is sent to a bulb (please someone correct me if that’s not the case)
Quite often with led bulbs which draw a much lower current the car thinks the bulb is out. You can buy CANBUS bulbs which overcome this. Maybe try changing the bulbs first to see if this corrects it and if not go to a different dealers.

Thank you . I will look into canbus bulbs.

First part not quite 100% right but the second part gives a hint as to the correction. It’s the amount of current flowing that is monitored. If a bulb goes less current is “being drawn” (flowing) which operates the warning. Which is the reason for the LED thing. Resistance can be measured in a dead circuit - it can tell you if there is an “open” circuit or a “short” circuit, or if the resistance is too high or low indicating a fault of some description.
Your welcome!

Check in the manual, assuming you have one.
Regarding resistance, systems that check resistance in a circuit to check for a blown bulb can’t distinguish between a blown bulb or faulty, corroded wiring, and in an Iveco, the side indicators corrode regularly.

It is an Iveco. I’d say you’re lucky it’s the only fault.

A serious word of warning though, never, ever, trust the electronic dipstick, and always carry spare oil.

Yellow .amber .amber light means proceed as normal if your gaffer is behind on his service contract .standard practice. The highway code says amber means stop but they don’t pay the bills .the decade old joker

Hell I drove a truck yesterday that kept saying “Engine Fault”.

Would you like a job

Some of our Scanias display an amber “engine malfunction” permanently, even when they’ve just come back from the dealer.

Oh sweet Jesus, the Iveco warning lights. I got the EDC light on the other day when I was out in one (begrudgingly) and it broke completely down. I was only meant to be moving it 5 miles away in a holding depot and I spent all day with it.
