Hi shunta.
Yanke run double man teams . and work you like a dog  do a bit of research , before you waste loads of cash, on being sold a dream

Yanke is a carrier based in Saskatoon SK. (edited after confirming)
They run truck load freight across Canada and the USA.
They are a well regarded carrier.
If they want you as a team driver you will run long hauls around North America; either across Canada or from Canada to the USA and back to Canada.
You will expect to be away from home for long periods of time; 10 to 14 days is common.
They run Volvo and Freightliner sleeper tractors.

These comments though apply to most carriers who are recruiting in England. They are generally western Canada based truck load carriers.
I see ERB has been mentioned here. They are an Ontario based refrigerated carrier. ERB runs International brand tractors.

The vast majority of trucking work that is based in Canada requires driving to and from the USA. The level of intra-Canada work is small compared to what is called Trans-Border.

Since the events of 9-11-01; the US border controls are far more stringent. Everyone, including returning US citizens is looked upon as a possible TERRORIST and treated accordingly.

Have a look

Hey Steveo1

If you are Yorkshire born and bred and living in East Yorkshire why do you spend so much time criticizing my country?
I don’t criticize your’s.

Somebody has to

Bluejaysfan. He is able to continue because admin here are far more lenient than elsewhere. As best I know, he has never been here and is basing his “criticism” on other peoples experiences, and only the negative ones.

The vast majority of those who move out here consider it to be the best thing they ever did. Some have problems with the company they work for, but that is the same the world over. There are some who come here thinking they can coast along for the rest of their lives and that is their own mistake. It is simply in their natures to blame others for the problem rather than to face it and overcome it.

We can criticise some places in the world for the way they treat their own people, or for the way they treat other nations. All over the world there are countries that steveo could take as a pet project, yet he chooses Canada.

He thinks he is being contentious and biting, but I don’t think so. Don’t sweat it. For all the faults Canada has, it is still the most generous and decent country I have been to.

Yanke seem to treat their drivers well enough. You don’t see many of their trucks sat around and they have a lot of longtime drivers there. The thing that tends to put people off is the team angle. After you have done team for a time, I think you can get a solo truck if you want to, but you will have to go team to begin with.

I was considering going myself Bob, but after a lot of pointless banter with the likes of you , and a few others, and hours of research by myself, I have decided against it I would rather hang onto to my hard earned money, then line some skint Canadians pocket.
If you feel that driving a truck in Canada , and being away from your family for long periods of time , and getting paid peanuts for your effort is a better way of life , then good for you
But there are also lots of other people besides yourself, that feel they would be mugs to go to a strange country without first getting to now all the ins and outs of said country. (Yes Canada has got nice scenery , so has Scotland big deal )
Otherwise you could find yourself stuck there, and out of pocket ( Ring any bells)
Since I started my Blogg I have received over 200 emails, about people that have gone to Canada, on this trucking dream, and returned for one thing or another .
Its not a personnel attack on you , just getting down to some truth, if you do not like it , well I can not do anything about that, just remember there are other drivers out here that want to now everything.
Never mind your EAST -WEST divide theory :open_mouth:

i was considering going to east yorkshire but after the pointless "banter " etc with steve i dont think i will. :sunglasses:

Your loss

So you are implying that I am being dishonest, are you? You say your criticism is constructive and that you considered coming here. No, I don’t think it would have suited you.

No, it doesn’t ring any bells, this assertion that I am either “stuck” here or am out of pocket. I am neither. I earn a decent living and actually get more home time than I have in the previous 7 years.

You say you have received 200 emails? Well you had better hope they keep coming if you want to catch up. I have had to create a new account to maintain a personal address because of the volume of enquiries.

People who want to come here should, indeed, hear of the potential pitfalls, and I always do my best to answer questions truthfully and without bias.

Tell me, is there anything you actually like about this country you have never seen or is it just somewhere you don’t like the sound of? Perhaps you should simply stay in the UK and keep your fingers crossed that things will improve. It is far preferable than your coming here.

Like I said Bob it has only been going a short while, there is no doubt in my mind that I will receive more Email inquires , regarding Canada    .
Yes I am going to stay in the UK for the time being after all it is my Country, and I am proud to be British  .
You mention all the time that I am always putting Canada down, maybe the same could be said about you , and your own country (you never stop putting the UK DOWN    .
Have to go (Talk again later ) your pal Steveo1

Again you misrepresent. I only put down the same as most others do. The thought of being proud to be british ended around 1985. Lately, things have been too much like wasted effort there.

Yet again, you are making assumptions and they are, as usual, wrong.
