What is there pay rate ? I know there will be contract specific ones , but I’m just after what they pay normally , the best I can come up with is £17 ph , or £33,000 Pa .
Thankyou
That’s like attempting to nail jelly to a table! Because GXO/XPO are made up of many disparate companies they don’t have a fixed wage structure as such. It’s my experience that each depot has over the years negotiated their own wages, conditions etc.
The only sure fire way to find out is to contact directly whichever depot you have interest in.
Couple years back was made redundant knew someone in offices at xpo Leigh asked if had jobs goong said yes but best bet is join us via agency get payed more.
Not sure what pay was as went agency anyway ended up with a job somewhere else
It’ll most likely depend on depot / location and what work they’re contracted to do
first of you will be doing a darn sight more than 37.5 hours if your driving a vehicle of any description full time.
when the pandemic was happening and drivers wages were increasing the people i knew at xpo didnt get a increase until the agency guys were on nearly double what the full time drivers were getting they put the hourly rate up 50 pence on the proviso that they wouldnt get a wage increase in april and if the shortage ended it would go back to the old rate for the next 2 years.
I worked there during the whole Brexit/Covid thing and they “imposed” an across the board 25% pay hike upon us, unasked for.
Obviously we didn’t turn it down.
when was that as i left march 21
Think I put it in wrong place , mods maybe move it .
It’s not a job I’m looking at , apparently there taking the contract I work on over from jun/ jul , so my guess will be they will only pay what they have to , which is why I said have they a base rate , assuming we’re tuped over to them .
Thankyou
Not sure if TUPE will apply here?
That is when one business takes over or buys another isn’t it? In this case is it a client who is changing their haulage supplier?
One business winning a contract, and another losing a contract is not the same as a company taking one over.
I don’t know what exactly is happening here.
You could be right franglais , , though if they said we don’t want the drivers they’d have to find at a guess 300 new ones, but always possible .
Or maybe a bit of redundancy , though I’d only just scrape 2 yrs by then
We’re being told we will only be doing customers work when they take over , not as with present company , customers work + there own work , so I’d of said it will be less hours , but I’ve no knowledge of xpo / gxo work so could be wrong
im confused… is it your company has lost the contract to xpo in which case im sorry but i doubt they will poach drivers from your company to go work for them. they will have their own drivers.
if its they are taking over the whole shebang yard vehicles etc then you will probably be tuped over unless of course they decide they dont want the drivers which i doubt.
when i was at xpo i was on a specific contract doing adr work the contract said 5am to 2 pm. i used to start at 4.30am and get back to the yard about 12 ish or maybe 1pm. they would then give me someone elses second run with half a dozen drops because it was also written in the contract that we had to help out as required. for three weeks i was put in a van so i could do 6 days aweek at 80+ hours
Think you have to go back to when the site was first outsourced, if ever
The drivers who were employed by who ever outsourced the work would have terms and conditions protected and anyone starting after that would be different terms
Shot in the dark
Off the top of my head it was mid 2020 (I stand to be corrected) we were always a very niche depot though attached to a coldstore with a very strong union presence l
I work out of a customers site for company A, using company A,s trailers / Lorry’s , come jun/ July company B ( xpo ) will take over the contract , company A will leave with there lorry’s / trailers , company b( xpo ) will move there Lorry’s / trailers onto the site .
We were told this afternoon that the 300 drivers ( apx ) who work out of that site will be tuped from company A to company B ( xpo ) , hope that helps cooper
Nb though it’s along time from now to June/ July so things could change I guess
Ah Brakes. Nothing will change, apart from paperwork, trust me.
Surely if you are getting Tupe’d over then your terms and conditions will go with you and if better than XPO’s t&c’s then you will stay on them without pay rises until XPO’s catch up. That’s my experience anyway of a few years ago.
Be aware XPO’s guys will hate you and you will get all the crap work.

Do check that the conditions applicable to TUPEng apply in your own case.
If you have it in writing, e-mail? registered letter? human blood on vellum? then it probably is OK.
If I’m understanding you correctly moaster ( entirely possible I’m not ) , then no not brakes , but as for things not changing , the planners are being tuped over so as you say , the same crap , just another day .
Beau , that’s why I’m trying to find what there base rate is , but in theory I shouldn’t be any worse off , dependent on what xpo pay then I could be possibly worse off .
As for hating me , luckily I only see the office staff for a couple of mins in morn / afternoon so not bothered
