But I’m also sure that there are a few lads for who that £500 would have made a difference. Or who have to face a less generous partner who doesn’t agree with giving away £500. Am I to cynical when I gather that this idea was put forward by one or two drivers, and that everybody ‘has’ to join in, lest they get treated like a leper? Could you not have given half of your bonus each?

There must have been a few drivers whose wives did not work, and were genuinely hard up.
A few quid, yeh a nice gesture, the whole 500 not so sure, but fair play to the guys anyway.
I’d of happily chucked £50 - £100 in but not the whole £500,that equates to £12.5k that’s a fair whack of money to be giving away especially at a time of the year where money goes out a hell of a lot faster than it comes in.
Fair play if it’s true though.

You take a week off you lose your bonus you’d normally get for being in. At Christmas they pay it you and that’s your bonus haha.
Small family run company. One I can see being on the news at some point for running it the same way that manager and mechanic have just been done for.
Afternoon off to go clay pigeon shooting as a group. Fully paid slap up meal and drinks at the Christmas Do. It was all bloody brilliant. Would you call it a bonus? I sure think so, but doubtless there will be some that say “I’d rather have the money” or “that’s not a bonus”.
For those of you saying I got nothing, bah humbug, it’s a bonus, if your terms aren’t good enough that you miss a gift card/box of chocolate/couple of hundred quid then you job is ■■■■ I reckon; and not because you didn’t get a Christmas box…

Sorry, let me put that another way. Would getting a Christmas box make those jobs, from ones where you despise the guys you work for, into jobs where you feel respected by the brass??

For instance if you read my previous posts on here I was totally ■■■■■■ that I got absolutely nothing, and that it did nothing to endear me to the company, and I called them a bunch of greedy bastds, especially when I got landed with taking a box of goodies down to them…(.hope they enjoyed their melted choccies btw. )
However, on my return to the yard today, everyone that was there was invited to the local restaurant for lunch and a couple of pints.
Ok call me easily pleased, but it just made that little bit of difference to make you feel a bit valued, so I take back what I said previously.
That was my local depot and manager, and full marks to him…still think the main part of the company are as tight as arse holes though.

Had to deliver bottles of wine and chocolates to the management at head depot, put them in the cab, but completely ‘forgot’ the chocolates were under my heater.

my xmas bonus is, one of my customers has booked 6 runs to reading 1 north wales, and 1 italy 1st week back after xmas who says january is quiet and then fro mthe end of jan on top of my other work i have 2 runs to holland per week 50 weeks per year, looking good for next year
