Wrexham to Newport

Just started a new job and one of my regular runs will be Droitwich to Cannock, Wrexham, Newport (South Wales not Shropshire) then back to Droitwich.

Trying to work out the best way to go, as somewhere along the Wrexham - Newport leg my first driving session will run out.

Did it last night by going A525, A49, M54, M5, M50 etc.
Thinking about trying the A49 all the way down, but a little concerned about places to park up for a break and the fact it would be 40mph all the way!

According to the sat nav it is 160 miles via the motorways and 130 via the A49…

Any ideas, hints, tips etc?

straight down the 49 would be my choice, loads of places to stop for a break

As you say you work nights then you don’t really need the 40mph limit do you

I always find the m5/m4 root down quicker, rather than m5/m50.

I would go A49 Shrewsbury-Leominster-Hereford-Ross on Wye then on to A449 to Newport. If you do decide to go the motorway route use the M50 A449and save your self £16.30 Severn bridge toll.(Its free going back )

Wrexham to Newport leg A483-A5-A49 to Harewood End other side of Hereford pick up Symonds Yat signed to A40/A449- Newport.
