I’d like to see some of these Tesco etc drivers jump on our firm for a day, lost, tipped over or stuck in minutes.

Done containers curtainsiders and multi drop tippers is the only one I’ve really enjoyed good money and sensible hours

Excellent I shall talk to the man who owns the lorries
Did tippers- mostly bulk- for years. Only found two downsides:
No thanks it looks like dirty work & those jobs must be hard to get anyway…
I’m on the bulk tippers at the moment, it’s a much better job than the curtain siders, I very rarely do more than 12hrs a day, don’t have any of this hand your keys in and wait in this ■■■■■ room for 3 hours. Instead I get to stay in my cab or if loading from a farm get to see some beautifull countryside, you don’t get half as dirty or sweaty as when strapping a full load of pallets to a flat/curtain slider! Besides if I do get a bit dusty I just blow my self off (ooooeeeerrrrr missus) with the air duster and my boots always get left on the top step. And to top it off I earn a lot more than I did when I was on general.
I reckon a lot of the drivers on here would brick themselves having to drive down some of the lanes we have to to get to various farms, yet alone having to get into them/manoeuvre around farm obstacles more often than not on your blindside…
I’ve been on a tipping job for 7 months now and really enjoy it. As said above… No sitting in waiting rooms listening to ■■■■■■■■. 90% of the time the customer wants the load ASAP so not usually waiting about.
Farms… Good so far… I’ve yet to see a winter through though.
Oh and no “you have to strap every molecule” rubbish either.
Ive just come off tippers after a number of years
From bulk blowers to straight bulkers i must admit i enjoyed it all yes it can be dirty smelly and dusty.
But like every job its what you make it . i worked with a great bunch of lads
Now im my own boss doing allsorts of different work new challenges etc etc

I see, like me that you wasn,t a big fan of Drax . I hated the bloody place. I used to load PFA out of there a lot when I worked for Cemex and the chances are that we have passed each other in that hellhole .
How many people would send you back to reduce your weight from 44.100, wouldn,t let you get out of the cab to bring it under 44t, Drax’s jobsworth’s did that on more than one occasion.
The best view of Drax is through the mirrors when you are leaving. The other power stations wasn’t as bad as Drax, IMO it was the culmination of every excess in H &S combined and the title they came up with was DRAX.
However, I’m retired now and one big benefit is I don’t have to go there anymore. (never say never,I might torment myself one day and go back in with a truck to remind myself how good life is without Drax ).
Cheers Bassman
It was all I ever did! Somedays you never knew when you would finally get home but that was the downside of running to tarmac gangs who wanted plenty of overtime and jobs that were not ready, but being job and knock you could also be done early so it all evened itself out in the long run.
Pete.
I only did a very short time on tippers but i loved it, would def do it again
dont think i could afford the pay cut to be honest

Oh ah, tippers is terrible money like (where’s the sarcastic smiley).
I’ve never earned so much for doing so little.

None of the tipper boys have actually posted exactly what they earn so I’m not really sure how you can be certain that you’re on more than they are… unless you’re one of these grand a week BSers that every RDC waiting room seems to be full of?
As for driving a tipper, I have never done it but if circumstances were to change and I needed to go back driving I wouldn’t hesitate if the money was right. Because that’s what it’s all about at the end of the week as far as I’m concerned.
Love driving tippers ,as others have said, it’s better than curtains or flats(yes I do those as well) better hours and you can crack on ,down side you can get a bit mucky, but then again where there’s muck there’s brass
I enjoyed it and it was my 1st job too, far better than multi drop stuff!
Would do it again, on flats and curtains now

hahaha
i was being sarcastic!!!
rdc waiting room? never been to an rdc…
My last payslip was £450 take home, 5 days 47.5 hours. I car share with a mate so that’s another £15-20 p/week. No nights out but we do have trampers who obviously earn more. I’m sticking with days as the wife’s happy.
Not gonna post my wages on here,(not as much as my driver) but he is on a hell of a lot more per hour than many on here think is an acceptable wage for driving a lorry, and his hours 50/55 per week! so its not B/S, at the moment good tipper or mixer drivers can earn proper wages in my area.
