Worst place to drive in the UK

Bradford and Leicester for me can’t stand those 2 places. I had someone in Leicester try to open my door when I would not let them at roadworks. He came in on the wrong side met oncoming traffic expected me to reverse an artic to let him. I was going to kick his front number plate and deploy the airbags.

For me it’s Birmingham, I’ll usually do whatever I can within reason to avoid it. I’m far from experienced in this job but some of the stuff I come across there is shocking lol. Even at like 3am the taxis are at it… Pruis sat in lane 3 at 40mph, which he’d probably happily to in rush hour
I would imagine more central London would be a common one with all the restrictions but thankfully never been and don’t want to.
Be interested to hear others

London. It’s like Birmingham but 10x worse with 10x more traffic at all times, midnight, 1am, 3am, if you don’t leave by 4 am it’s like rush hour at any normal place. Probably because tfl decided to funnel 99% of the traffic on a handful of trunk roads which may work overall (idk how much jams there are during peak times) but makes it a nightmare to drive on these if you’re in a lorry. Outside of those trunk roads which themselves are weirdly curvy and narrow-laned it’s all even more narrow lanes, bike lanes, bus lanes, cameras every few hundred yards, ever changing speed limits like 50 into a 40 followed by 50 then 30, can really catch you off guard if you’re unfamiliar

Also some of the trunk roads have low bridges (A406) wtf. Again outside that there’s the hgv ban during night-time, 18t restrictions on some roads, many now limited to 20mph again covered by speed cameras, no hgv parking whatsoever (outright banned) not that you can find a place to park anyway, most places you deliver to want you out as soon as you’re done, some won’t even let you in if they have no free bay/space so you have to drive around and keep coming back to check (this was during day time so even more fun), at night - roadworks with road closures and confusing/overlapping diversion signs, congestion charge

Drivers - half of them don’t know where they’re going, eyes glued to phone/sat nav and 0 awareness of their positioning and mirrors, harsh brake and swerving towards the exit without signalling, pretty much learned to anticipate it now. Other half are locals who know where they’re going and will speed all the time except when there are speed cameras at which point they slow down to a near halt (probably most of them sitting on 9 penalty points and ■■■■■■■■ themselves), cut in front, not paying enough attention to road/other vehicles because they ‘‘know the way’’.

Fortunately I only do about an hour of driving there enough to make me hate my life. You couldn’t pay me enough to drive there daily - a car or van let alone a bus/hgv. Hats off to those that do it but the stress would be too much for me.

London is by far,the worst,I think.I have to do deleveries in central London and its just crazy. And now,you have cyclists with no lights, they can go through red lights, you have mopeds on L plates delivering pizzas, electric skateboards, all lit up,whizzing across in front of you, black taxis that never have the manners to acknowlege you when you flash them out,I could go on…
Of course,we are expected to check our blind spots for cyclists in the dark with no lights on we try our best, but I think, there should be some enforcement of the law here…

london with all the lorrie bans and no parking etc, and cycle /taxi A holes, then any ethic area can be birmingham or bradford lol all a chithole

Cheers! So glad I don’t have to go into London lol.
Forgot about Bradford as someone mentioned, that place is pretty unpleasant.
Few for South West area too… I’ve never been down past Bristol even in the car and don’t want to haha. I’ll stick to being a Northern monkey

Soo glad I rarely go past Oxford from Southampton now a days , then back to yard and some quick fire runs down docks , Eastleigh or Fareham , due to a certain car parts contract and may be the odd Swindon thrown in mix
Nearest Brum I got was Coventry on the 21st ofApril ,
Heck I’m going further to Devon truck show

Cornwall & Devon in summer months…HGV’s need serious route planning, knowledge, and lots of luck regardless…
those that do, take my hat off to, as lanes get narrower the further you go sometimes… in the car was bad enough.
Usually the opposite vehicle suddenly realises they dont really know how to reverse more than 2 meters… :unamused:

Work wise always too far… and glad

That is a normal road for me every week…I like a challenge. :sunglasses:
Striving continuously to keep off You tube.

Reckon you might be alright at the YouTube lark. Seem to say it how it is lol

Anywhere south of Preston.

Heading East on M56 :

If I turn left onto the M6 : it’s going to be a good day.
If I turn right onto the M6 : it’s going to be a bad day.

The whole of the southern flank of the M25 is rubbish, no matter what time of day.

Bradford. End of poll. London is a piece of cake but out bretheren from Bradford are a special breed!

Manchester, by far. They house the worst four wheeler drivers that I have come across in the UK, specially after sunset.

I actually love driving in London. Actually use to volunteer for central London runs when on agency for Tesco and like. To others drivers it was like winning lottery when we started at 1am and Id have the longest run Harlow did up into Norfolk and other driver was moaning about doing central London and I’d suggest we swap

To be fair I hated London so much at first. But after a while I got use to going there. Was in there almost weekly.including central London.
Didn’t bother me
Them again place I worked for left me alone didn’t ring asking how long will be etc etc.
Used stop at last services before crossed M25 . Have break . Then just crack on.
Way I looked at it had 1 drop usually to building sites/office /house renovations etc.
Mostly seemed be underfloor heating
If wasn’t doing that be doing more deliveres in a day .
Yes was depressing seeing sat nav say 4 miles eta 50mins.
But rather do that watching people listening to radio than driving up and down motorways doing multiple drops

I like a challenging road, but I have found no worse place than Thurrock, especially the distribution center at Tesco. No parking what an awful stressful horrible area

The first comment is what is known as a ‘joke’ to use a highly technical term.

Ah right…

Gotcha.

From September anywhere in Wales

Admittedly I’ve only driven professionally in the South West and I thought it was a perfect place to drive until I went to the English Riviera this week.
