On itv now, checking the scedule it looks like they have good coverage of the rally season , about time , this for me is one of rhe best motor sports , this & redbull X fighters…
It happens every year by some company or another and you get about 3 races in and it just disappears. Getting sick of it - I can only presume most of their revenue comes from mainland europe. Shame because its often one of the most exciting motorsports and it hasnt been tamed by the HSE YET
The problem is actually the FIA.
There was a company called North One Sports who did the best coverage ever. A couple of years ago their parent company went bust so even though that company was trading just fine, the FIA said they could no longer provide coverage.
The FIA then said they were changing the rules and that every WRC event would have to negotiate its own TV deals which would be an unmitigated disaster.
Finally the FIA saw sense and this year FIA negotiated with European Broadcasters Union. Once that deal was finalised EBU then began negotiations with ITV4 which look as if they’ve been successful and hopefully we should see WRC on ITV4 for the next couple of years at least.
