If the OP took your advice and didn’t tell VOSA the truth as you have suggested (Just say nothing) she could find herself in far deeper water than she would be for a few hours over a driving limit. Falsification of records springs to mind.
The op wouldnt get caught if she was careful what she told them, if they even ask of course. Like i say its not worth the hassle of keeping extra records for the van driving and if anything i think she’d be more likely to fiddle the tacho in the truck, say for instance she could only get in 7hours off between van work and tipper work but doesnt know shes out in the truck until after she’s filled in her book she’ll have no optionbut to wind the clock forward.

As I said in over 3yrs of Driving 3.5T I’ve never kept any sort of hour logs or dairies, and if stopped the nearest you get it “what time you start tonight drive” followed by “what time you finish” to which I usually reply with the start time, then “whatever time I get back to base”. I can’t see how not keeping records is falsifying them though, as your not creating a fake, just not wasting your time with paperwork. I seriously suggest some on here get another hobby to fill their days if thay seems a good option…
once when i was stopped at todhills the vosa man asked about the gaps in my cards so i gave the driving with out a card register which he photo copied to show to other drivers,i was soon on my way.
