I was doing an ADR course last week and when doing the manual entry for the final day I put in that I started work at 7.00 am and then stopped for a 45 minute break at 1.00 pm. That’s 6 hours. Will I have infringed the WTD or do I need to go that 1 minute over the 6 hours? Thanking you in advance.
The rule is that you must not work more than 6 hours before having a break of at-least 15 minutes.
You never exceeded 6 hours working time before the break so you will not get an infringement
It’s OK for manual entries but I wouldn’t recommend cutting it that close when the tachograph is recording your activities
7.—(1) No mobile worker shall work for more than six hours without a break.
Thank you. I wasn’t quite sure if I was fine or not. More than anything if working for 6 hours from 7.00 am to 1.00 pm would be considered as 6 hours or more than six. I guess it’s equal to six.
Strict ADR instructor then!
No 15min for coffee break during 6hrs?
He did give us our 15 mins break.
I find it’s a nightmare having to do manual entries for days done away from the vehicle and then when returning, having to do the entries for all the breaks etc. It bears little relation to what hours I actually work but since I get paid from my tachograph hours (no clocking in card), I just make sure that I get my 8.30 hours in plus 45 minutes break which they deduct from you. So, since it’s a pain to to manual entries for every day you are training, I try to keep the entries to a minimum without breaking WTD rules which I overlooked on Friday. It used to be much easier using the ? function but we’re not allowed to use that anymorre. I don’t quite know why? What do you other guys do?
