After the change to hub system I was doing around 4 hours driving total but 5 or 6 hours or more queuing to get to the bay, tipping, break and loading on the transhipment sort.
I guess could easily be even longer assuming it’s a tipping and loading individual trucks outside one or two at a time type of operation.
Especially double deckers.
In my case it meant much longer hours per week and handballing trailer loads off and on during the sort to add insult to injury.
As opposed to direct trunking like three single and two double returns runs Feltham/Bristol per week.Even Scottish change over Feltham Charnock Richard or Feltham Dewsbury I was generally finished before 6 am and got paid until 6.But got a lot more difficult after speed limiters.But 60 mph speeds were safe enough.
