Working for UK Mail tonight

Bit nervous first class 2 job! Any advice?

Don’t rush. Good luck!

Good luck, and well done

I made it home! And as far as I know hit nothing!
However I went 5 minutes over my time before my break, bit worried now!

Glad you made it home - that’s always good! You wont go to prison for 5 minutes but maybe expect a reprimand from the TM. They cant afford to have people breaking the rules. With a bit more practice, you’ll plan your breaks better. Always better to have the break early rather than late.

So dont beat yourself up but have a quiet word with yourself to get it better next time.

Not hitting stuff is a definite PLUS!

All the best, Pete

What’s the TM?

The only reason I had ended up breaking it was because of 2 diversions too :frowning:
Stressing now.

Did you do a printout? Write on the back?

DJC:

I did a printout once I’d stopped but not once I got back to my final destination.

I was told by UK Mail I wasn’t allowed to stop on route. Woman rang me asking where I was and I’m late. I would’ve stopped had it not if been for all the pressure and stress :frowning: and now I’m sitting here worried.

The law is the law. They might not like you stopping en route but if you have to stop for whatever reason, you stop. Was the run a bit tight for time or did you have some issues along the way, such as getting lost? It happens. Even to experienced drivers. Do not allow yourself to be bullied into breaking the law. Policemen don’t like it.

I’ve learnt my lesson and will be stopping regardless next time.
I did have a problem, junction 27 joining the M62 was closed so I got diverted, and the coming off the M62 onto the M6 J10 was closed so again I was diverted. Cost me about 40 minutes. Would’ve been fine otherwise.
I just didn’t want to rock the boat on my first class 2. Looking back I should’ve done what’s in my best interest. Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

If its got loads of Goody’s on board you can always stop for a break round mine in Milton Keynes & redistribute the weight a little bit

Lighten up Alan, it was your 1st night. If we was all perfect there wouldn’t be any new positions for you to work in.

Alan, well done fella and don’t stress ok.
If you get stopped by the ministry just tell them the truth, you was diverted twice and it’s all new to you but you know better now.

If I can give some advice…if you look like getting delayed again then get on the phone to your office and tell them the score and ask what they would like you to do. By doing this the ball is in their court,it is their problem to solve and takes the pressure off of you.

Well done again.

Dont worry about anything you did fine , as prev poster said ring them and let them know , it was your first time and its all new to you and you want to get it perfect but ■■■■ happens and you just got to deal with each thing that comes, sort it and carry on , as you get a few runs under your belt it will all start coming naturally and you will wonder why you fretted about it all

You did well

Thanks for the replies. I just want to get back out there now and try again!

If you get held up and think you will have to take a break give them a call to keep them in the picture. When you speak to them DO NOT come across as asking their permission. TELL THEM! You haven’t had a bad night mate, not yet! :grimacing:

I will be telling them next time! I’m really not one for confrontation though lol.
