Working for a dutch company

Yes, they ain’t British, so don’t expect to be worked in the same way as in a British company.
There have been threads about working for Van Der Bosch and several other Dutch companies. They don’t make inspiring reading. Initially at least, you’ll be working for one of the few companies that accept foreign drivers. There’s a reason for that, they can’t get enough local drivers, why not ?

As Simon has said and their own interpretation on EU driving hours and rest. They are the worst in Europe for tachograph offences. The bosses are tyrants and bullies.I would not bother.

TOTAL ■■■■■■■ BOLLOX!!!

I am working for a Dutch company and have for the last 12 years. Dutch companies are no worse than the ones over here … in fact, it would take a lot for me to work for an English company again.

I went and worked for a German company because I was fed up of working the type companies you describe… Well what an experience that was! What I’m getting at is that you can’t judge a company on the number plate alone.

+1 on that :sunglasses:

i worked for heemskerk of leiden about five years ago and they could,nt of been nicer.
i was trunking between wales and there base at rijnsburg and they always arranged a motel for me with dinner and breakie thrown in, the local petrol station fuelled me up without my getting out of the truck and you drove into the truck wash, then had coffee made for you while the truck was washed.
yeah you did put the hours in when you drove but i was introduced to ■■■■ heemskerk and he shook my hand thanking me for working for him !!
where in this country do you get that simple courtesy.

When I was loading our knackered old FLT’s on Dutch wagons (may have been Van Der Bosch ) being sent to Europe one driver was from Romania and was ranting his nuts off big time in the yard, seems he had been caught on the ferry with some illegal immigrants in his trailer at Dover, he spent just on four weeks living in the truck for nearly £1000 a month…guy was crying as his wages where swallowed by the fine.
Not a lot of wages either :frowning:

I shouldn’t think it was van den Bosch, unless you were putting the fork lift trucks on one of their bulk grain tippers.

Illegal immigrants are a problem for whichever nationality company you work for.

Most of the vdb drivers were taking around £1600-1800 or more depending on the amount of work they get over 3 weeks, you’d probably have to go to an eastern Europe office of a company to find work for £1000 per month.

Yes, same as “go Irish”, “go German” etc.

I lived and worked for over 30yrs in Holland and found they are no different to anyone else. The onus is on YOU to prove your Worth and fit in,the same as everywhere. It’s the same here, just a bit colder.
