my wife is working tonight 10pm until 07am i think she gets something like £9.11 ph, not alot but better than when she was working as a carer, on 3 pence above the minimum wage…
Edit:- Forgot to add she works at tescos as a shelf stacker.

I know a bloke who works for stobart and they had to book Boxing Day off because they say it’s not a bank holiday,
He tried to book it off and was refused so has to work for normal time.
Shocking if true. What’s shocking about it? These days most shops open Boxing Day, so somebody’s got to re-stock them. The days of triple time etc on bank holiday working are long gone mate. I doubt if the legendary Tesco shelf stackers get owt extra.
Sidevalve ,please dont tell me its ok to work boxing day on normal rate
you will be surprised how many guys on 4on4off get stuffed with working bank hols at the normal rate just the day in liue
I worked on a farm years ago. The sheep and cows still needed fed on Christmas day. As a gamekeeper I used to still have to do the normal rounds.
This year I’ve taken the full 2 weeks off. But I’m the lowest of the low, unemployable by anyone else, working for peanuts scum bag. Merry Christmas you greeting faced ■■■■■.
We have to work either Boxing day or New year’s day for just basic rate and a day in lieu. I got boxing day this year.

Probably had no holiday left to take and had to work for a flat wage!

i was ok’d on a holiday apx a month before Xmas for Boxing Day ,a few days before Boxing Day this was quierd by t.o bod and he said I should not have been allowed it ,and that what they were actually doing were getting drivers too work the previous Sunday ( 22 ndwas it ) in exchange for having Boxing Day off ,I queried this as Boxing Day was paid at 10 hrs and I’d done 12.5 hrs on the Sunday + a £50 extra shift / bonus ,his reply was that was what most drivers were doing ,family time ( fair enough ) but if I didn’t know better it’s saved them x amount of £50 bonuses and like me another 2.5 hrs in o/t payment ( £80 ish) for giving you a day off ( boxing day) when they never had any work for you anyway .
It’s becomming a theme of trying too take money off you at every opportunity ,not good at all for moral ,but do they care it seems not .
As for what your paid for Boxing Day I think it’s £11/12 ish ,guaranteed 10 hrs ,but if they use the same fiddle they do on a sat/ sun then if you do 5/6 hrs they will pay you 5/6 hrs at 11/12 p.h then makethe other 4/5 hrs up at the lowest rate mon - fri £7.90 apx p.h .
n.b we were told there were no hols dec - 2/3 rd man but as time went by I think they realised some days ( boxing ) they had very little work ,so instead of allowing hols came up with scheme of working sun, and in the process got drivers in on a day they needed them, saved the £50 bonus they offered and got anything over 10 hrs for free ( did I really say that, worked for free ) ,but until I see a pay slip it’s hard to work out what or if you wil/ won’t ger paid .
I’ve in the past said the money’s not bad ,told people too take a job ,there’s worse ,but of late I’d say stay well clear, run a mile .

There was no work, they were asking the drivers to work the sunday before to have Boxing Day off ( in there words more family friendly ) which if that was just the case would be fair enough.
But the Sunday to most was a extra shift ( paid £50 bonus) + extra hours ,now I can only speak for myself and I was only told it was a straight swap ( told I couldn’t have holmagrreed too a month before ) after I’d worked the shift ,that’s underhand if you ask me ,if they’d refused holiday when booked a month earlier, told me at time that if I wanted Boxing Day off I’d have too work the previous Sunday ( exchange shifts basically ) and this would mean I would not get £50 bonus + any hours over 10 then Thats fair enough ,it’s then my decision whether to do it or not ,but too get you too work thevsunday then move all the goalposts round too save themselves wages doesn’t sit well with me and plenty of others .
But it’s nomgood moaning it is what it is ,I will have my money back one way or another ,and time too move on .

No y.t I don’t so I’ve no idea why there unhappy ,even though we all work for the same company all depots ,divisions work in there own ways ,so there gripe might be holidays wheras mine ( depots is wages ) .
It’s all very strange as I’ve never had issues with wages ,then this month it’s gone completely to ■■■■ with hrs missing ,estimated wages that rant even in the ballpark ,offered bonuses with one hand then taken away with the other.
I’ve no idea what’s going on ( I could gues ) but it’s just wrong whatever .
We offered to work christmas day but they gave us the day off seriously!!
