Hi all
Had an interview today for a recovery job which i got 1st job after passing test and was wondering what is the best trousers to get as dont want any that will wear out quick
thanks
i say buy Dickies and ive allus found them decent .Id avoid Strauss although very long lasting took ages to break in and heavy
Apologies if you know this already but just to check - you’ll want hi vis trousers to be legal for motorway recovery.
Depending on the range of work you will be doing, you will be in lots of situations where you can get wet / oily / muddy, so you may find yourself coming home a lot dirtier than you went in.
I would have thought most firms would supply you with the hi vis gear, as it’s kinda essential.
I have some helly hansen workwear trousers that don’t get used as often as they used to, but so far have proven apparently indistructable.
Come Summer, you would want hi vis trousers still and sleeves on a high vis jacket for motorway work, when the sun is out and it’s hot you don’t want to be chucking on a quilted jacket.
Remember you are working in exposed conditions so alway think safety first, reduce the risk to yourself as much as you can, learn from others and try and get them to put you through some AVR courses.
Avoid 100% cotton for all work clothes. At least 50% polyester.
Don’t go to places like Matalan or George in Asda.
I would be asking if they supply it first mate.
I would have thought hi viz work trousers would be part of PPE on recovery work.
Not for the petroleum vehicles . (polyester ??? =risk of static sparks)
If it’s workwear or ppe, the company is required to provide it. You might choose to buy your own, it must meet their spec and you can’t claim for damage to it.
Boots are either provided or you get an allowance toward buying your own.
They supply all the ppe ive just got to get black trousers
Paint ya legs.
So they don’t supply trousers but they specify what type (or colour) YOU have to buy/wear…ok.
I’d be just wearing a decent quality pair of jeans mate if it was me.
Our lot went through a phase of banning shorts, I’ve worn shorts in trucks for 30 + years, AND for some reason best known to themselves, they stopped supplying trousers.
So my answer, (said very politely) was when I supply my own work wear I decide what to buy/wear, buy me a pair of kecks and I promise to wear them.
But take no notice of me mate,.I am a complete arsey so and so when it comes to stuff like this.
However I compromised by driving in my shorts, but putting my jeans over my shorts at customers premises.
As I said mate, a decent pair of jeans if you are buying
